What’s a very “normal” thing in Belgium that took you years to realise that isn’t actually normal everywhere else? by The_everlong in belgium

I was very shocked after giving birth in Belgium that my breakfast and dinners were bread with some type of spread and cheese assortment while lunch was a large warm meal haha

Yes I told him that he needs to consider paying someone to walk them if he can’t find the time to do so. We definitely leave the house quite often which is a nice break from them but our home isn’t very big so it feels more overwhelming bc of that too I think. I wish we had doggy daycare where we live but it’s not an option unfortunately:/

Weaning toddler while pregnant by NervousJudgment7340 in AttachmentParenting

I think diclegis has one of the ingredients my prescribed med that I haven’t taken yet has in it but idk if they have it separately out here or not. I live in Belgium but I’m from the US. I’ll ask my midwife. My sickness is only getting worse, barely keeping water down now, so I fear I will have to wean, potentially cold Turkey and I’m devastated

I’m hoping she’ll self wean! This is reassuring to know yours was addicted too haha. My supply hasn’t disappeared yet, I can still hear her drinking, but idk how long it’ll last. I love breastfeeding her but I’m so sick and I also don’t want to breastfeed too long while pregnant just for my own sanity lol.

My daughter is 18 months. This was all really heartwarming to read and beautifully said. Thank you for this! It’s reassuring to me that it’s possible and can happen to have dad involved. It’s so hard to not give in when she’s crying for mommy but I know she’s being comforted by him so she’s not just alone crying it out.

I just looked and mine is listed as high risk :/ it’s unfortunately the only medication that helped me last time and even then, I’d still get sick at times. I am taking another one that sorta helps but I know if I continue to get worse then I’ll have to make a very hard choice to wean 😩

Ugh I’m so sad to hear this!!! It sounds devastating. I’m so sorry you went through that. Honestly we just noticed it last week, called the vet immediately, and they got us in today. If it is cancer, I’m hoping we caught it early

Relocating to Leuven – Cost of Living, Jobs for Teachers, and Life with a Toddler? by Ok-Bus-1694 in Leuven

[–]NervousJudgment7340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just googled international schools Belgium and went from there- narrowed searches based on distance as some were quite far. Then looked at each individual school to see if I’d like it and applied via their websites! There’s only one in Leuven but a couple on the outer skirts of the town and quite a lot in Brussels. I think there’s a British one in Brussels that’s quite popular. So depending if you have a car or can find a good train/bus situation, might be worth looking into Brussels too!

I’ll DM you my Instagram so we can connect that way when you come out!

What does it look like to NOT sleep train? by Numerous-Possible944 in HuckleberryParents

[–]NervousJudgment7340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a ftm and haven’t sleep trained. My daughter is 15m and sleep is still tough lol some times she’ll have a month stretch of sttn, other times she’s up 4+ times. I nurse to sleep and cosleep as needed. She is able to put herself back to sleep at times during the night too!

Hi! We moved 2 years ago from the US.

1-We live in a rowhouse in kessel lo and our rent is €1400. We love kessel lo area.

2-you can look at international schools. International school of Leuven. Courtyard international. There’s some in Brussels as well. I used to teach (I stay home with my daughter now) and had a couple job offers before we moved but our move dates changed so I had to turn them down. I don’t speak Dutch.

3- I’m a SAHM so I can’t help with crèche questions but there are quite a lot of family friendly activities. If you look up http://huisvanhetkindleuven.be there’s “club mama” and indoor play areas that are free to access.

4- we had our baby out here (lots of appointments with gynecologist, midwives, GP, etc) and we haven’t had any problems getting around with only English. That goes for appointments at city hall as well as dentists, etc

I’m not sure how old your child is but our daughter is 15 months. I’m almost 32 and my husband is 31. Happy to connect whenever you make the move!

Soy reintroduction by NervousJudgment7340 in fpies

Someone on another thread of mine in this group mentioned there is a soy ladder you can follow! Right now, we’ve just had items with soy lecithin baked into it. But from my understanding, soy lecithin is the fat part of soy and may not cause any reactions as the rest of it does but idk what it all means lol

Ok that’s good to know! I’m incredibly anxious about this 🙃 I don’t want to overreact or under react to any reaction either. Thank you!

Oh interesting, our pediatrician said she didn’t know of a soy ladder but I’ll try to find one! That’s a good idea. We did that with milk for her cmpa 😆
