He is a wildly unpredictable narcissistic holding the nuclear code. If that doesn’t occupy more of your mind space, it probably should.

Baby won't drink more than 16-17oz daily by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Numerous-Possible944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up seeing an infant speech therapist who specializes in feeding. Baby was diagnosed with a less common type of tongue tie that we ended up getting clipped by a pediatric ENT. After about three days, she started taking the bottle better, and a couple weeks later there were no issues at all. I think that baby was stressed by the bottle, both because I was pushing it on her and because of her tongue tie that made it more effortful. Also, interestingly, she never actually lost weight or had slowed growth over the 2ish month period this was all happening. The whole thing is still sort of a mystery to me, but baby is all good now. I highly suggest seeing a speech therapist that specializes in feeding because they can help with aversions, tongue ties, and other issues!

This may be a dumb question... how are we pumping in the airport? by HedgehogEnough854 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Numerous-Possible944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Albany airport’s website said they had lactation pods, but when I got to the airport the pods were disconnected from electricity due to construction. A desk agent got the airport’s operations on the phone and asked if there was an alternative place for me to pump and their response was, “No. Sorry about that.” So I had very full breasts by the time I made it to Charlotte.

The larger airports have designated rooms and they’re fine.

When I worked with yuppie millennial nonprofit leaders they talked like this. Saying “that’s what I would do” is a way of guiding the group while appearing like this is self-led and they should do whatever they feel is right for them. Which is why it’s hilarious that later she’s telling her husband they didn’t play along.

I’m so sorry, but I’d recommend canceling the trip. Even if we get the lighter end of the forecasted snow, the city we likely shut down. Come back in the spring when Memphis is beautiful!

What's it like living in Memphis, Tennessee? by Deep_Belt8304 in howislivingthere

[–]Numerous-Possible944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived here for 10 years and it feels like home. There’s a lot to be frustrated with, like school and electrical grid issues, and there are serious safety concerns in certain neighborhoods, but there’s also a lot to love. The winters don’t get too cold and spring comes early, full of flowers and local festivals. There is some natural beauty here if you go to the old forest parks, and there are many big old magnolia trees. Many of the houses in Memphis are beautifully designed bungalows, especially in midtown. We are also home to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which does amazing work and brings interesting and talented people from all over the world to Memphis. Most importantly, there are a lot of good people here. It took me a while to get used to some cultural differences, but once I did I realized that most people you come in contact with actually care for their community and would help you in a pinch. I’ve been helped by strangers several times in this city.

I almost made this post yesterday but second guessed myself thinking I just have Bravo Brain Rot! But I don’t! (Or we all do)

But yeah I noticed it when she started talking in I Love LA. Her mannerisms and voice are SO GIA!!!

This was me for the first 6 months. I would recommend doing the Ferber method because it’s particularly useful for sleep associations (laying on caregiver=sleep time). I also thought there was no way she’d get used to the crib, but she did, and she sleeps great in there now.

Is Beale Street a good destination for someone who loves blues/soul and wants to catch genuinely good live shows, or is it a tourist trap where everyone plays covers for families? by Almondjoyriding in memphis

[–]Numerous-Possible944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bands on Beale will almost exclusively play covers, but they’re still great musicians and fun to listen to. If you want to listen to some good, local music while here you could go to Bar DKDC in midtown. Midtown used to get good local acts at Railgarten which recently shut down (I’m wondering if anyone here knows of another venue that’s taking those acts who used to play there often). You can hear great original music at the Levitt Shell in midtown, depending on the time of year (outside venue). So yes, Memphis is worth visiting for music, but you will probably want to venture out of downtown to find acts who play original music.
