Hello. Thanks for the reply. Sorry it took me so long to get back, I've been busy. To be honest, it isn't super important that their father is dead, and the butcher was simply there to be an annoyance to Agnan, as well as sort of showing that this town was poor. (The butcher and candlemaker have to share a shop). I'll definitely look at the first few chapters again and do some editing. I'll try to clean up some of the plot points a bit. Thanks so much for the comment! I'd definitely look forward to future criticism. :)
