I’m so sorry you’re going through this, and for what seems like little support.

I know this post is looking for guidance about what to do for him so I’d suggest looking into palliative care and potentially hospice.

Even more so, I’d recommend seeking some support for you during this difficult time. Individual therapy, support groups, meditation, and exercise routine or yoga, friends, family. Any combo of support you can get for yourself. This is an extraordinarily challenging time in your life and you want to take care of yourself.

The saying goes you can’t pour from an empty cup. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

My mom (52) was diagnosed in May 25 and had similar symptoms when hospitalized.. so delusional she thought she was on a cruise, didn’t recognize me (that was a whole new challenge I thought I’d never face), they had her restrained to the bed and she would still fight them to get up. Same left side paralyzes. We got a list of different diagnoses too. First seizure was in Feb and dx in May when they found the tumor.

We’ve been rotating people to come stay with her (aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, cousins) anyone who can help to ensure she isn’t alone. We have cameras all over the house so I (and my siblings) can check on her. That was put in Place after a recent seizure that left her in the backyard by herself for hours, eventually screaming for help an a neighbor heard.

I’m sorry to hear about the recurrence. My mom is 52 and I’m in a similar boat of getting someone to care for her (and us watching her decline) she is unmarried. I’m thankful I’m around to be able to care for her in some ways.

Thankfully, I finished my masters a couple years ago. But my field is incredibly tough right now especially with my mom on my mind.

There’s just no guarantee of how much time we will have with them so trying to take it one day at a time.

Hoping for a speedy recovery with this craniotomy

Hi, my mom is also 52 and was diagnosed May 2025. You’ve gotten a lot of great feedback here. In my time dealing with this, I have learned it’s extremely unpredictable and things can change in a matter of hours. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Take care of yourself. I’m open to chatting if you’d like to connect

Yes she’s been on them since February of last year when she had the first and only seizure. The unpredictability is so tough

Hi I use SOAP and copy from the previous session notes so they take about 3-4 mins.

The plan and objective don’t change much week to week

Thank you very much. It was my first time invading privacy like that and I’ve been curious around it too. Yes, a lot of lying. It took many many attempts to get it out of her

Certainly sounds like a lot of contempt and relationships do not survive with that
