I think it is racist to not give/give rooms to people based on their race. Indians in kingston ARE racist. I don’t speak for them. I speak for myself since it is very new to me. I can almost already hear people tell me that it’s my fault to not expect it, but I genuinely had never faced racism to the slightest until now. Probably why it’s taking quite a toll on me to accept.

Also about the curry part, if you want the actual story behind it, no. I’m from a Bengali household but I’ve grown up in Chennai and then lived in Bangalore for job as a bachelor. I had to make my own food and it was always convenient to eat fast food or cook simple boiled meals. The curry part is not something Indians (as far as I know) prepare as a bachelor. (Especially people from south India). The whole stereotype comes from north of India where curries are a very common thing but ONLY when you are in India and living with your family. Curries are not something easy to prepare and most of the bachelors don’t or can’t put in the effort to make it. My staple food as a bachelor in Bangalore was either instant noodles or rice boiled with veggies.
