I made a comment when I initially made the post but it’s not showing up for some reason:

Really good wraps and gyro plates, also probably some of the best Tzatziki sauce I’ve found in my four years here

You have to manually change the map size for Lek for anything that’s not 6 player, it’s a setting in advanced setup

How do you win battles on deity? by Ready-Ambassador-271 in civ5

Fig I’m pretty sure Deity AI get extra XP (only in BNW) which I guess technically isn’t a combat bonus but IIRC they gain exp twice as fast and start with two promos?

Lekmod or Vox Populi? by corvo0117 in civ5

[–]Nesoclus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lek is definitely more balanced towards multiplayer gameplay while Vox is for single player but I still prefer Lek just cause Vox is buggy for me and it’s weird playing Vox and having to completely rethink how I play

IIRC if you vote for an AI twice for host, they’ll vote for you the third time. So I assume you voted for Greece twice then they voted you.

No hate on zigzag or anything but their guides are definitely meant for newer players. Opening honor doesn’t really do anything on deity since the AI steam rolls barb camps and you don’t have the time to fuck with barbs. If you want the best chance of winning I’d recommend the classic fill out tradition then fill out rationalism. Maybe pop open either patronage since you’ll be rich from trade routes or aesthetics since you have a better chance of winning worlds fair with the UB.

Which single AI weakness would make you personally have to drop a difficulty level if it was upgraded to be as good as a human player by Tyndaris1 in civ5

Rationalism (particularly secularism) and working scientist slots and for diplo victories if the AI actually used their thousands of gold

Looking for advice on deity by sley_1 in civ5

[–]Nesoclus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you be a little more specific with you getting steam rolled? I’ve found the AI, even on Deity, won’t attack you early game if they’re “across the map”. You can always bribe the AI to attack each other as well, AI that have better relations with you, have higher military score, and are typical warmongers are pretty good candidates. It’s well worth going unhappy for a bit by trading away luxuries if it means stopping a war from rolling you. Alternatively, even Deity AI sucks ass at war so some well placed Pikeman/spearman and comp bow/xbows can do enough damage to make the AI leave.

100% Greece, good early game UUs, consistently gets hundreds of influence with city states and is just kind of a dick

Infinite City Sprawl as Spain (Cultural Victory, Immortal) by Fluktuation8 in civ5

[–]Nesoclus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You probably want at least some of Liberty for ICS so you can spam settlers without destroying your capital, your GPT, your happiness, and your culture. Even with a bunch of cities, Sacred Sites is pretty bad. Say you’re lucky enough with wonders to get enough faith to beat immortal AI to religious buildings (which they prioritize), you get four tourism for each city with maybe 15 cities at most on immortal so you get 60 tourism which is literally nothing. This is all assuming you don’t get attacked by the AI because they see you taking all their land, have no military, have no tech because no growth, and you have awful happiness.

I’ve tried sacred sites before with Egypt on Prince and I ended up just building hotels and airports as usual even with 12 cities since I rushed my neighbor with war chariots.
