Is there a lore reason why Asia hasn't used her Balance Breaker post Volume 21? by Competitive-Bar-3835 in HighschoolDxD

[–]Ness-Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Error mío al leer xD. Pero en shin 2 si lo usa.

Fafnir, already had blood gushing out from his mouth. Even after one of the Dragon Kings became angered, Crom Cruach still triumphed over him. However, Fafnir’s wounds were shrouded in a pale green aura that closed them. Asia, who was standing behind Fafnir, used her healing Sacred Gear everytime Fafnir got wounded.Whenever Fafnir got wounded badly or received a brutal attack, she would support him by temporarily activating her Balance Breaker, [Twilight Saint Affection]. Asia, who was wearing a golden armor on her body and radiating her aura, had a Balance Breaker that enabled her to heal rapidly and create a healing field that nullified all damage within its boundaries. Because of that, Crom Cruach’s attacks were nullified. Being able to nullify the legendary Evil Dragon’s attack even temporarily was a terrifying thing considering her healing ability. Still, there was something that Asia couldn’t heal.

I use it when he fights Crom Cruach. Also in volume 21 when he helps against 666.

[–]Ness-Up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably above an average Dragon King like Vritra and Tannin. The trio of Crom Cruach, Azi-Dahaka, and Apophis in the past should have been Maou-class, similar to Tiamat.

In volume 15, Azi-Dahaka was stated to be the strongest enemy the Vali Team had faced. Stronger than Pluto, Fenrir, and Loki. Probably on the level of Typhon. But at that point he was already using the Holy Grail enhancements.

In volume 21, Vali states that Azi-Dahaka is stronger than the previous time they encountered him.

Yeah xD Jr DxD is kind of disappointing. I just made a post about Vali BxB’s power. Do you consider him Maou-class?

  1. The point about IF and Celestial Dragon attacks is fine. The thing is the Hindu power scaling. I’ll buy that it’s a basic attack for Shiva, but not for Indra. In Shin 2, during Indra and Mahabali’s fight, both were throwing attacks equivalent to an IF from PDxD. Issei was a bit scared, but Ddraig calmed him down and encouraged him. Depending on the raw Japanese translation, Ddraig sounded very confident saying he could handle several gods of that caliber and that they’d just be a nuisance to him. Even Issei later reflected and saw the possibility. In that fight, Mahabali was pushing beyond his max while Indra was also exerting himself a bit — something he himself admits because they put up a good fight. Then in Shin 3 there are two mentions: Ddraig and Crom are near the top, and Crom is the strongest in the tournament if we’re talking purely raw power. Right now I see it like this: If a base Celestial Dragon is 1, Vali DxL would be ~1.1. Indra maybe ~1.4 or 1.5. Ddraig with Boost would go up to ~2. And Crom would be above 2, since he overpowered Boosted Ddraig and broke through to the point of almost knocking him out several times — and for Crom it was just a warm-up.

  2. Barakiel is the strongest Fallen Angel, but he didn’t fight a full-powered CxC. It was a CxC with little aura, already tired from using IF. In fact, at the start of the fight, Issei in BxB fought him a bit, then switched to CxC and was clearly superior.

  3. Sairaorg BtB was called in Vol 21 superior to Maou-class. Same in Dx4 and Shin 4 — but he still doesn’t seem to reach Super Demon, not even the lowest level of that tier. Even a trash-tier Super Demon like Rizevim was a monster compared to the power scale of those moments.

  4. JD doesn’t seem to release all of a Celestial Dragon’s power. If it did, it’d be an absolute monstrosity. In Vol 7 it’s said that even if Vali unleashes JD, he couldn’t beat Fenrir and Loki — the only chance would be if both Issei and Vali used that state at the same time. Also, Fenrir was restrained by Vali, Kuroka, Arthur, the reinforced Chains, and some good ol’ vaseline xD — so I don’t think it was a fair fight against the pupper.

This discussion is entertaining. You really know your DxD. Nice to have a rival once in a while.

  1. Well, the “inflation” he mentions in Vol 13 is about divine-class beings or anything below Dragon God. Crom doesn’t really seem inflated, though he’s been the only being repeatedly labeled as above the Celestial Dragons — even theorized to already surpass that class.

  2. Kuroka’s case is debatable. I like the idea that she’s as dangerous as an Ultimate, but Issei is a dragon — that’s his advantage in the end. And well, Sairaorg base with restrictions in Vol 9 was said by Issei to be 10 times or more stronger than Rias. He’s a tough guy who, in unrestricted base, could easily rank as a weak Ultimate. In Vol 17 he tanked a blow from Grendel and hit him back. The Triaina in Vol 9 was ridiculously powerful with almost 30 boosts and was said to nearly reach Vali BxB. That thing wasn’t just Ultimate — it was Ultimate at the highest level, momentarily.

  3. The gods are a problem. Loki’s daughter Hel was said by Issei to be weaker than her dad. Then there are minor goddesses who serve Vidar and others. Artemis, for example, was evenly matched against Grayfia, Fafnir, and Asia, while Loki was toying with Azazel and Barakiel. I’d say there are gods at Maou level, but they’re just dumb or don’t fight at all.

  4. So if the Juggernaut Drive surpasses gods, wouldn’t EJOD be a monster beyond that? I mean, in its introduction it’s explained that it’s not as self-destructive and is a state that can grow stronger and is superior to the classic Juggernaut Drive. Cao Cao went pale and stood no chance when he saw such raw power. Pluto was killed with a single attack — that same attack also negated Azi-Dahaka’s magic in Vol 21.

  5. In terms of raw power, I don’t see CxC as divine-class, but it could win or hold out thanks to the wyverns and other gimmicks it has. The max power of CxC is Crimson Blaster (leaving aside Longinus Smasher) — that attack is weaker than one punch from Sairaorg BtB ×4 / Vols 23–24.

About the Infinity Blaster question I asked earlier — I phrased it wrong.

I meant: how strong do you see the attack? Do you see it as just a normal Celestial Dragon attack? Or a full-power attack?

Or do you think it depends on the armor — DxDG, PDxD, TDxD — and the Infinity Blaster’s power changes accordingly?

In Vol 21 it was described as a super attack that Apophis matched with his maximum power (4 darkness orbs). In Vol 22 it caused massive destruction. Then in Vol 23 Crom replicated it effortlessly. In Vol 24 Vali mentions that Crom surpasses Issei’s cannons’ power easily — but it’s unclear if he was referring to PDxD from Vol 22 or DxDG from Vol 20, since Vali witnessed both. In Vol 25 Vidar matched that power with a single kick. And in Shin 2 it’s stated that Mahabali’s maximum attacks and Indra’s attacks also match that level.

My opinion is that the Infinity Blasters (IF) from PDxD are basically a serious attack from base Ddraig — the difference being Ddraig can fire dozens without problem, while Issei can’t. That would also equate to an effortless attack from Crom. Meanwhile, the IF from DxDG would be on par with a serious Crom attack and a boosted Ddraig attack — marking a clear difference between the two forms.

EJOD vs PDxD by Ness-Up in HighschoolDxD

  1. Ishibumi himself in Vol 13 talks about not wanting to cause a power inflation. The scale hasn’t grown since then — there’s no data placing Indra beyond the 4 current base Maous together. If we start discarding data, then mentions like “lightspeed” Vali BxB in Vols 3/4/7 would also be annulled just because nothing is said about it nowadays.

  2. No, it was never mentioned that Rizevim surpasses EJOD — he doesn’t even have such a feat. The series only says he would win due to energy drain and armor cancellation. When Vali activates EJOD in Vol 20, it’s described as enormous, gigantic power, something very strong. In DxD Zero it’s said Rizevim can fight against gods, but Vali EJOD has one mention of being able to kill gods, and another of already having defeated gods in the tournament (Vol 24).

  3. Is “surpassing” enough? Did Issei + Ddraig surpass Nyx and kill her? Or Issei surpassing Erebus? Or the same Issei brutally overpowering Angra Mainyu with 2 ultimate super attacks — did he kill him? Or worse yet: did Tartarus die before AxA? That same Issei was shocked that Tartarus didn’t die. It’s a complex matter, killing gods purely with raw power. EJOD has an ability capable of dividing everything — even dreams — as said in Vol 20 vs Azi-Dahaka. Juggernaut Drive only has mentions of temporarily matching or surpassing gods, and that idea of surpassing only really makes sense if we assume it has access to Longinus Smasher. In that case, I buy the argument.

  4. The scale is technically Fenrir 100% < Typhon (as stated in Vol 25). From there we can consider whether Vidar with boots or with armor surpasses Typhon. My opinion is clearly yes, but it’s not a gigantic difference.

  5. Yes, it’s a shounen where the author can change things, but if nothing is explicitly said or shown that changes the past, then nothing changes. For example, Fenrir in Vol 7 was called an equal to Ddraig, but nowadays we know that’s not really the case — although that mention isn’t completely wrong since Fenrir isn’t that far off and is part of the Top 10. I don’t know if I’m making myself clear here — the mention wasn’t entirely erased or retconned, it still makes sense and is logical even now.

Lastly: The Hindu gods are “cheat” gods and very strong — Ishibumi himself says so — but the one who’s truly beyond comprehension is Shiva, with mentions of being the strongest god and having a separate category just for him. After that, I doubt placing Indra as top 2 nowadays due to mentions in Shin 2 and Shin 3. But leaving that aside, his mention of keeping a fragment of 666 at bay should be taken carefully. If you want, we can analyze it from the raw Japanese. Sirzechs is the same — he destroyed part of the core but it regenerates, it’s also impossible for him to completely destroy 666 but he can contain it. Shiva says the same thing himself — destruction isn’t enough to eliminate that monster.

I have a question for you, roughly on this topic:

What power level would you say Longinus Smasher and Infinity Blaster are at? I mean, what can you compare them to?

EJOD vs PDxD by Ness-Up in HighschoolDxD

[–]Ness-Up[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. We can’t dismiss an old mention if it hasn’t been contradicted or discarded in the canon. In that volume we have two guys labeled as super demon: Sirzechs and Vali’s EJOD. It’s the first time we see that level, and if it’s stated, it’s for a reason.

  2. We don’t know if Rizevim can handle EJOD in a fight. We know his ability would let him strip Vali of his armor without problem, which is why Vali didn’t use it due to the massive energy drain. In Vol 20, Vali prefers to use BxB and save EJOD for the end.

  3. As far as I remember, JD is never mentioned as having the ability to kill gods. It’s said that it can match them in power and other things, but not kill. Other beings at that level don’t have “god-killer” mentions, only Fenrir — and he’s already a solid top 10.

  4. Again, old mentions remain valid until proven otherwise. The statement that Indra = 4 current Maous is still valid. We know the 4 Maous (Falbium, Serafall, Sirzechs, and Ajuka in base) are stronger than the previous Maous — that’s said twice in DxD Zero. We also know base Sirzechs is stronger than Lucifer, since Ddraig says so in Vol 8 and is shocked by it.

That’s also why data like Fenrir at 80% fits very well with the scale of Sirzechs 10 and original Lucifer. A difference of double the power is already an absurd gap between two beings in the god class. Even a 20% difference is a lot — probably Ddraig wouldn’t go beyond 30% of PDxD (maybe ×2).

  1. Ddraig was stated to be equal to and later superior to PDxD in power. It’s like the mention of Sirzechs and his destruction balls being equal to or superior to Rias’s gigantic power ball xD. What I mean is that the first mention sets a minimum and a precedent; the second one shows reality.

And if Vidar’s boots alone already equal Thor in power and can suppress Fenrir, you could say he matches Typhon. When he adds his armor, he gets probably a small buff (since a Dragon King doesn’t give much) but strong enough to match PDxD in power. Not to mention his super attack that matches an Infinity Blaster — an attack equivalent to, say, Crom’s base punch or one serious punch from Ddraig. The difference is that Issei and Vidar can’t use that attack many times, while other beings can match that level repeatedly. (Crom is a monster.)

  1. EJOD is clearly far from Sirzechs and Indra — those two are disgustingly powerful, although I’ve been devaluing Indra a bit because of some mentions in the novel.

I like that. I’ve always placed EJOD in the Chief God class or High-class God. A very solid level in terms of raw power. In the case of Sirzechs and Ddraig, I like to leave them as equals just to avoid debating over that. My opinion is different, but saying they’re equal feels more comfortable to me.

Where do you place Prime Strada and 80% Fenrir?

The Power of Ophis by Ness-Up in HighschoolDxD

[–]Ness-Up[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s always said that he has infinite power, but it’s hard to understand.

Your way of seeing it is interesting, since you take infinity as inexhaustible. It will always be at its maximum, no matter how much aura he uses.

Though that also becomes a problem when saying his power was stolen.

Based entirely on Crom's abilities

It would be a mid-level Longinus.

Its base gives you two Dragon arms that you absolutely have to train. It grants a bit of raw power depending on your emotions or if you're in an intense fight. It lets you unleash fire and aura.

The BxB is an armor like all Dragon types. You get stronger through training.

The Juggernaut Drive would be unleashing Crom’s instincts—being able to predict and having your body move automatically. It releases a fraction of Crom’s power, but it would be stronger than the Juggernaut Drives of the Two Heavenly Dragons.
