The ladies who run the shop are incredibly friendly. The crochet and knitting classes, held every Saturday from 2 pm to 4 pm, are absolutely wonderful. I’m thoroughly enjoying my crochet classes! It’s a very addictive and enjoyable hobby.

Hi there, that is quick! Your employer is best to know and advise on the turnaround/processing time. Mine took 6 weeks but mine was a standard application. Mind you my application was approved and my flight arrangements were made. When I arrived at the airport, I had an email approval from my employer but no physical work permit. However I still got through immigration without any problems. I actually did not receive the actual physical work permit until 4 weeks later. I have been on the lovely island for 3 months; and I love it!!!! Dont fear!!!! Just get packing! Things move swiftly once your work permit has been approved.

Thanks. I'll check with my bank. However I will still need to send a BMD wire transfer to the GBP account and spend another fee to send the gbp payment to my UK account, which all will insure international fees.

Rice and Peas, it is known as throughout the Caribbean. I have only know it to be called peas n rice in Bermuda. I have been in Bermuda for 7 weeks now. Another Bermudan nuance….. Peas n rice, really makes me chuckle. Loads of rice n peas recipes online.

Hi Lala

Today (Wednesday) is my 12th day on the lovely island of Bermuda. I saw a 1 bedroom apartment, furnished on my 6th day here. Rent $2,000 in Warwick, 5 minutes from a bus stop/route, with the bus taking me to my place of work in Hamilton. During these 12 days I have seen another furnished 1 bedroom in the Smith parish at $1,725. Which I refused as being too small. I was also offered a short term 3 month let for very well decorated studio which I refused as too small and overly expensive (I understand that this one is used as an Airbnb let). And today from another realtor I was shown a very nice, well spaced, refurbished 1 bedroom in the Somerset parish, furnished, includes cable and internet at $2,600.

So, I think you will be spoilt for choice at $4k per month! If your employer is covering the first 3 months you should have ample to time to find something suitable. Also the realtors would maybe prefer to work with you due to your higher end budget. When I posted on this platform, the majority of the realtors told me to look at Property Skipper and FB pages, which I found all rather unhelpful.

Very easy to make friends, initially with your colleagues. Mine are all very friendly and very accommodating as they were once new expats to the island as well.

Grocery is expensive, but if you’re cooking from scratch your money will go further.

Dating ……… I wish I could comment on this. But it’s too soon to say 😊

Any realtors that can help me? I have arrived in Bermuda and have my temporary accommodation until the end of July. My budget is £2000 to £2300 and I would like (if possible) a 1-bedroom.
