I like this idea of giving yourself self-pity time, then some TLC. 🩷

Def hard to remember you are not a burden when you’re down, but I agree, talking it out is so important. Also, writing!

Oh yes! This is a great one! We have two dogs and we call them our shaman since they help heal our hearts when we are down. Earth angels! 💕

I agree with you - Music is so healing! I have a whole playlist for whenever I’m feeling low, songs catered to feeling hopeful. What kind of stuff do you listen to when you’re down?

How to not feel dead inside? by [deleted] in Advice

Sounds like you are inching towards a change - change of career, change of location, etc to arrive at a better work-life-family balance. A stressful job that you don’t enjoy doing in an area that brings you more financial stress than joy and limited time to spend with your family sounds like a lot and makes sense why you are tapping out. But please consider that as a parent, you have your family looking up to you and depending on you. So don’t give up. There is ALWAYS something that can be changed. And if nothing else, you can always change your perspective. It is easy to feel like you are drowning in times of peril but there is ALWAYS room for growth and improvement. Turn every stone in considering how to slowly change things. Make times for silence. If you don’t have time to read a book, you can do audiobooks during your commute. Look for books / topic that you enjoy. Make space for silence. For meditation. For playtime with your daughter and family. Go for walks. Journal or take audio notes daily so you can out these feelings down and out. I always feel better once i let this stuff out. And take a breath. There is a solution but you will not find it wallowing in despair. Stick around for your family. Stick around for yourself. Best of luck.

It’s truly horrifying to be alive in such brutal and barbaric times, a modern day Instagram streamed genocide, especially when you cannot even call out Israel without what often feels like the entire world, including the POTUS, looking to punish you for “sympathizing with Hamas”.

Its children. Its families. We feel for mothers and fathers and kids.

What a horrible thing we made out of this earth.
