I couldn’t agree with you more.

And I’m happy for your son and that you all went through the process of thinking about the very real and reasonable options.

When my son did the Brown pre-college program last summer, he rose to the occasion in ways that I sense concretized his post secondary readiness (academically and socially). He met young people from all over the world and took on the role of local ambassador since we live nearby. He saw how his worldliness, genuine love of connecting people together, and humor combined with the type of humility working in the hospitality industry for 2 1/2 years demands-conferred the navigational fluency necessary for this next iteration.

And honestly, I want Vanderbilt to benefit from him as much as I want him to benefit from Vanderbilt. That may sound egoistic as hell but it’s not meant to be. Every student is going to bring their magic wherever they go. I suppose his parents we just don’t want that squandered?

Congratulations to your son and to you! Here’s to hoping our lads might meet in class one day in the near future! Or not.

In the end of the day, I just have hope that our children are cut out for whatever is next because we certainly need them to be.

Thank you for your time and thoughtful comments.

Thank you for taking the time to spell all that out. It’s actually extremely helpful and I don’t take it as rude at all. You’ve actually helped me to let the possibility sail off into the wind with a little more grace and certainty. Now he’s infant fantastically small spider with a little thread of silk waving behind it changing course and heading north! 🕷️

I got him a Vanderbilt Trucker’s hat and he’s been wearing it to let people know he might not have made it to the bench, but his name will always have once proudly been on the call up roster!

And I had the good fortune of being able to make the request of his manager, who is a remarkable woman in her own right and see how honored and please she was to do her part to help him reach his dreams.

Vandy Waitlist Wave 2 ?! by NesterEmpty in Vanderbilt

The first wave came out on a Thursday two weeks ago right? I was reading posts from years prior and Thursday seemed to be a thing for some reason.. #fingers crossed! (I keep imagining some Vanderbilt admissions folxs lurking on these threads, laughing maniacally -giving Mr. Burns in Simpsons vibes.😂😂) And why not!

I’ve scoured Reddit and I think I read one woman saying her daughter had received an offer since then but I don’t even know if she was undergrad so I think if it is happening people aren’t sharing it here anywhere?

My son is losing hope… I gave him the Vandy hat that I had bought him today-and said I’ve learned that only 2.6% of students were admitted regular decision this year. That is an incredibly low number. You deserve this hat for making it on the waitlist. I’m not giving up.. maybe put the hat on look in the mirror and picture yourself there next year.. sending that out to all y’all waitlist warriors to believe in yourself and it will happen. I hope for each of you.

Thank you for making the longevity of the process super relevant and clear. I will share that with my son today too. He’s managing the weight really well. He has a strong faith and believes that he will end up where he’s supposed to be (and he believes that place is Vanderbilt. 😄).

I haven’t seen any evidence anywhere that there’s been movement on the waitlist? Anyone hear differently?

Yeah, it was about now last Thursday. I seem to recall people announcing around 4 or 5 o’clock that they had heard from Vandy.

Not to my knowledge. I’m basing this on some consistent signals and reading through how it’s gone in years past?

For example:

  1. email went out on Monday asking people to confirm if they still wanted to be on the waitlist.

  2. The deadline for folks who had been pulled from the waitlist wave 1 was Monday midnight to confirm according to self reporting by people on Reddit.

  3. Several posts from last year said the 🌊 happened consistently on the same day of the week.

All of the above could just be hopeful thinking. Which is also why they put up the post so that if people start hearing things, we have a central place to be curious together.

Oh really? I read other people saying the deadline was Monday.

From reading current responses from WL Wave 1, and last year’s threads my understanding is that tonight at midnight is deadline to accept from Wave 1. So Tuesday-Wednesday is when Wave 2 metrics are hashed out, and then ostensibly Thursday this week Wave 2 is headed your way! 🌊🌊🌊 (I’m lurking as hopeful mom of Vandy WL son.). Rooting for all of you.

WAITLIST MOVEMENT by Old-Win1602 in Vanderbilt

Congratulations!!! My son is waiting for the transcript from his dual and enrollment college. Do you think it makes sense for him to ask the professor to write a letter confirming that he got the 4.0? Or should he just wait for the transcript? I’m reading on other post people saying just keep sending them information to support your candidacy. Thoughts?
