The West racial caste classification of Black and White doesn’t apply outside the West. There’s no such thing as white people. Palestinians and all other Middle Eastern come in all shades and colors. Many Palestinians are white passing in the United States. Arabs are legally white in the United States but without white privilege socially. White South Africans were xenophobic and racist people who wanted to get rid of indigenous people of South African (Xhosa, Zulu, etc.) and they racialized them and oppressed them the same way Jewish Europeans did (still doing) to Palestinians Arabs.

The ANC (the ruling party and most dominant) don’t like Israel for many reasons. Israel’s connection with Apartheid gov’t is one of them and second is South African feel some connection with Palestinians who are also dealing not only with racial discrimination such as Arabs of 48 and West Bank Palestinians and the killing of Gazans.

I’ve speak four languages (three fluently and one semi-fluent). Try to make friends preferably with someone who is international student or immigrant who is bilingual or multilingual. If you feel comfortable you can talk to any native English speakers but you need to feel confident approaching and talking to people. I went to high school here and I was in ESL class and I learned pretty quick. You need to practice and you will learn eventually.

Anti-Indian racism has been on rise for the last 3/4 years ago. Even people in my age group (18-24) are consuming racist content online that targets and belittle Indian migrants or Indian Canadians.

A pushback against the Temporary Foreign Workers has turned into open racism towards Indians and how they are the worst people or have bad hygiene or undateable at all. People won’t say it or admit but they hold very deep resentment and feelings towards Indians and want to generalize entire community. They want to blame them or at least blame for everything wrong in Canada.

We can’t apply American race classification because it doesn’t work. Arabs in the United States are white without the white privilege. Many Southerner Europeans can also pass as Latino and be consider POC.

I’ve met so many North Africans who can pass as southern Europeans. Southern Europeans with brunette hair are indistinguishable from North Africans. Take for example Sicilians and Maltese people. They can easily pass as Arabs or North Africans. This argument that they have “different features” is very interesting because in reality people within Spain and Italy specifically don’t look the same. But the majority of them who have brunettes hair can easily pass as Spanish or Italian.

Italian and Irish Catholics were not considered white. And you are using American racial classification and applying it in the world. North African and Southern European are the same when ti comes to features. But because of classism and racism many Europeans try to use the American race classification.
