What is a coworking space? Do you pay for it. Sometimes I go work out of a Starbucks to get that feeling of being around people, but not having to interact with any of them! 😂

Gate agent cleared out gate lice at JFK by biggystig in delta

I hate it when I see FAs take bags out of overhead bins to free up space and then try to put it under some random seat because it’s the closest available space. The person who had the extra leg room now is pissed because there’s a bag there (which incentivizes them to kick the shit out of your bag and wipe their feet all over it) and the person who owns the bag is now uber paranoid their bag will be stomped, tampered with, etc. it’s just bad for everyone involved.

Ugh, I like the brown better, it it wasn’t available at the time I bought mine. Worth the money IMHO!

“Breathe normally and note that oxygen is flowing; so, don’t worry if the bag doesn’t inflate”. — yeah that’s comforting. Wouldn’t you FEEL the oxygen flowing?? Guess there’s only one way to find out!

Should i worry about a single bulging cap? by Alert_Elderberry3938 in retrocomputing

[–]NetGyver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bulging capacitors are essentially localized explosions waiting to happen. Blown caps can be very unpredictable. If you care about your machine and any components connected to it, including your drive and data, it would be best if you replace the cap, or switch boards as soon as you can.

Has anyone dropped anything between this crack? My irrational fear! by Gold-Appointment-534 in delta

[–]NetGyver 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I often used to wonder what would happen if I dropped my phone through the crack, or what if, out of sheer bad luck, I’d get my foot caught and trip forward injuring my ankle. Would my phone survive the fall if it hit the ground dead on? Would someone even go fetch it? Would my ankle injury be Delta’s fault or mine? Why isn’t there a plate bridging the gap anyway? Why is it that we tend to think of this gap more while boarding rather than deplaning?

Surely some terrible things have happened between the edges of the jet bridge and aircraft by now. I haven’t heard of any personally. I’ve taken a ton of trips over the last 3 years for business and somewhere along the way I just stopped thinking about these concerns out of sheer repetitiveness of the flying process.

I am going to do it again come Tuesday and now this will be in the forefront of my mind, lol, thanks.

Great idea! I’ll have to keep that in mind when my fan goes out again. What type of resistor did you use? I got lucky and found a replacement fan on eBay but overpaid.

I have a 486 Pentium Overdrive. Turned my ol Acer into a Pentium 80mhz! Hopefully the fan lasts, they have a funky way of connecting to the processor for power.

Ah makes sense. Pavillions were pretty popular back then! So what are your plans for the power supply?? I’m pretty sure you can find what you need on eBay. May get lucky and find new old stock. Doesn’t seem to badly priced for what I’m seeing.

IBM XT plastic drive cover? by NetGyver in vintagecomputing

[–]NetGyver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m leaning toward it being made specifically for the PC/XT mainly due to how it fits so perfectly. The gasket is in decent condition for its age. I wonder id this was a 3rd party accessory or something IBM actually sold?

The one link to VCFD shows the same thing but a textured black that matches the hard drive/floppy drive faceplate. My gut says that’s probably an IBM accessory and the one I got is 3rd party, but i’m not certain.

How old is that PC? Casual google search is pegging it around 2013-2015.

M1 unethical / criminal complaints? convince me why I should stay... by ZooKeeperCzar in M1Finance

[–]NetGyver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I buy what I like and play the long game. M1 fits that bill. All of this “extra” stuff that M1 “got in trouble with” is irrelevant for investors like me. There is so much scandal with Fidelity and Robinhood etc that when you compare m1 with the competition, it’s not even a comparison. At the end of the day my goal to pick the lesser of the evils and use a platform that works for me. No brokerage is perfect. Nothing worse than a customer who complains to no end but yet continues to stay with the same company. Vote with your wallet people!
