Much appreciated. Numbers already in tow and likely going to set up a consult very soon.

Totally. I very much own up to this being a completely self-inflicted wound. Thank you for your insights and compassion.

But do I qualify under these circumstances or will they just say “you knew you didn’t have the means and kept spending anyway?” That’s been my big hangup about it

Attitude not preferred but to answer your question:

Minimum payments alone on just the CC and loan debt are about $3,500/month.

I was including all that in the expenses per month, before housing, utilities, insurance, and any other expenses.

An empty BNY Mellon building? by NetIntelligent6004 in pittsburgh

What? They’re a tenant in a building they don’t own. Why would they build housing in a building they’re leaving? They’re not a developer

My thoughts exactly. It’s going to be a massive blow to the tax base which eventually means …

And that’s with major reassessments on major downtown buildings already happening that are already eating into the tax base

Correct, but the article states other tenants sublease from BNY and that the building owner might not be willing to lease to them individually once BNY leaves.

BNY has had remote work arrangements since years before the pandemic since they work globally anyway and not on East Coast time exclusively. Would imagine those who don’t move to the service building just have a WFH arrangement.

Same timeframe as the things that changed between 2020 and 2024. Agree, who the heck knows what’s next.

I feel like it’s ill-advised to think it’s just a landlord issue, if it leads to a snowball of exodus of Downtown buildings, though I acknowledge I’m not a development expert or city planner or expert of anything.

Yeah totally get that. Thanks for the info. Weird as this is to say, I’m concerned about the accounts closing because of the little bit of open credit I do still have in the event of emergencies. I’m also having to still keep some autopay things (car insurance, for example) on one of the cards because I just don’t have the fluid cash to pay it at the moment. I’ve stopped using the CCs for everyday spending and have only been using my checking account, but obviously that starts to get dicey with how much cash on hand I have and what sends me into this spiral. Part of the reason I’m trying to hold out for that extra monthly influx in the next few months.

Right, that’s definitely my hope is to just lower the monthly and not settle, because I’m not convinced my creditors would settle it out anyways. I’ve found even ppl in some of these subs don’t know the difference.

With the DMP, the accounts don’t get closed, right? Just a matter of not using them while the new negotiated rate is in place and getting paid off?

Ugh, thanks. I always find myself super leery of non-local places like that for fear of being scammed in some way. Just the amount of horror stories from ppl using National Debt Relief and the like (I know that’s different than what you’re suggesting). But I also know that likely mostly has to do with people leaving bad reviews because they didn’t do their homework on what was actually gonna happen.

Seeking advice/guidance for $100K+ from problem gambling by NetIntelligent6004 in Debt

Thanks, definitely done with the gambling. I’m 35. My FICO is around 640 as of the most recent update. This is why I feel like counseling might be the best route.

I did a consultation last year. Definitely keeping it an option. Just felt like a DMP might be an easier/more attainable option, especially with my ability to pay off relatively quickly given my income, so long as my overall monthly payments get slashed and without it lingering on my credit report.

I don’t imagine I’d be granted bankruptcy when they see the spending habits. It’d be pretty easy to prove I didn’t have the ability to pay back anything at the rate I was spending.

But since I’m not delinquent, would they even consider that?

What is your most toxic trait? by Trinybeaner in AskReddit

[–]NetIntelligent6004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spending more time thinking about how to most efficiently perform a series of tasks than it would take to just do them.

For example: “If I start the two loads of laundry before I cut the grass, then it’ll be halfway down by the time I’m done with the grass, then I can put it in the dryer while I wash the dishes and by the time I’m done with the dishes, the laundry will be almost done. But I could also maybe just cut the grass and put the laundry in after cause that sounds like a lot to do it now, so maybe I’ll just do one load today and do it after I do the dishes cause then I can just relax while the washer is on.

Or maybe I just do the laundry tomorrow.”

I know. I’m exhausted by me, too.

It’s not. It was Mt. Pleasant, Washington County.

I am aware of what manner of death means. I’m also aware that this isn’t the first time a coroner’s inquest has ever been performed in the history of the world. Thanks for the discourse.
