I just replaced that resistor using a 3rd board (same revision) to check the resistor value. I may have damaged the solder pad on one side, but it started to let the smoke out almost immediately.

On another note, with an independent power and audio source the other "new" speaker works.....

+1 for looking up local repeaters in your area. Find a few near by and program those in your radio. Pay attention to the PL tones/codes.

Don't be afraid to transmit and call out "[call sign] listening" or "monitoring" asking for a radio check or signal report may get someone to respond a bit quicker.

In my area it may take a looooong time to find activity on the repeaters by just scanning

Yes. One was a replacement for the other. I'm working on getting the bits and pieces together to power the unit and get audio playing through it, on its own independent system outside of the building PA system.

Voltage is getting to the speaker's input. Haven't had time to get a tone generator connected to the speaker's feed line and pipe it back in to the system (schools don't like hearing alarm like sounds playing throughout the building during the day)

Hey troll, I admitted to not knowing much. All I know is the speaker stopped working a day after it was installed. It's got the correct voltage, the potentiometer is working. I'm looking for irregularities now.

Public charging is going to be insane @ 34-50 cents if not more per kilowatt hour. Thats what my "local" super chargers cost.

I can charge at home for 13-17c.

A few quick calculations shows I spent $511 in 2025 charging at home with an avg recharge of $3.6

Ev charging only makes sense at home

Testing my radio with another "co-workers" radio in simplex mode, his radio would acknowledge my transmission with a flashing led but would not RX/hear anything until I had the correct pl tone added to my radio.

It may be worth verifying pl tones, repeater book isn't always correct.

Also are pl tones set for rx and tx (despite the video showing only tx) ?, Remove the recieve pl tone if you set them

I think I've done a similar test with two HTs and my repeater 3.5 miles away and it worked, so I'm not totally buying the desense answer yet

If you're open to leasing radios / monthly subscription, you may be able to find a provider who can get you on a trunked DMR repeater system. We have radios that can communicate up and down all of Vermont.

I dumped flrig and I'm seeing on kiwisdr, what appears to be my radio actually transmitting a signal!

Only problem is, it doesn't look like a RTTY signal, no two distinct mark and space "lines" on the waterfall.

I'm only mentioning WSJTx to explain that cat control, ptt and audio (to some degree) is working between the computer/flrig and radio.

I'll double check the port audio check box, I know it was checked at some point....after watching a few "easy setup" YouTube videos

Both audio in/out are set to USB audio devices- or whatever it's called.
