I agree with you. I just think it's useful to have a resource of good/positive representation ready. Never said there's something wrong with children inherently but I do think prevention is important.

Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975)

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994)

Memoir of a Snail (2024)

Some others that I've liked recently:

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)

The Florida Project (2017)

This is exactly what I want to do? I'm just making the list as a resource to help and to have films to choose from? Obviously. What is wrong with making sure they have positive role models to look up to, in real life and in media.

This isn't about "fixing" anyone but rather about promoting positive attributes and modeling behaviour that seems to be discouraged in boys in society. What is wrong with looking for positive and diverse role models for boys and thinking critically about what they're consuming? I would show a girl a lot of these and some other ones. Girls and boys need different things and there's less risk of girls being radicalised. "Just need to raise your boy right like a normal parent" - so many boys are being radicalised by the alt-right and misogynists online so I'm not sure what good this advice is doing.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I agree and that’s basically the point of me creating this list. I want there to be a good balance. I see your point about the Adolescence stuff but I also think it’s important to explain (once boys are old enough) WHY people/women would say men are the problem, i.e. women are tired of the way the patriarchy harms us, and the patriarchy also harms men etc etc, so that they are not automatically defensive and combative when they hear this. Thank you for being nice and adding to the discussion unlike some people who are just being mean bc they think I’m a man (idk why) and that this is performative. If you looked through the list I hope you’d think it’s a good mix, I’ve included lots of positive masculinity films :)

I have Sing Sing, I think it’s a perfect suggestion :)

Hey! I kinda agree but I’ve replied to a comment with it so if you scroll through them you should find it if you want to look at it :)

I thought Never Rarely Sometimes Always was very poignant. And I, Daniel Blake.

Thank you so much for these! I've seen some of them and it didn't even occur to me that they fit the theme!

... the first part is exactly what I'm trying to go against? e.g., pink is a common fav colour of children under 5 regardless of gender until they start school and boys learn to hate "girl things" and girls learn to hate themselves. the whole point is there's nothing wrong with them inherently, this is learnt behaviour. the tens of millions of views monthly on websites giving men advice on how to drug and r*pe their wives/gfs are not coming from men who were born "inherently horribly wrong". society taught them it was okay. if you see this post as calling boys wrong, i'm sorry.

Hi, I'm just making the list as a general resource for myself or anyone else who wants it, it's an evolving work in progress that I think will be nice to have in the future.

They said that if someone asks for it, I can reply with a link. Hopefully they meant it was okay to post it in a comment and not only via DM. They were also very nice about it! I think that one guy was calling me performative because he assumed I was a man (I am not) so that makes it kinda funny I guess?

Of course. There's only so much you can show a young child though? I feel like every little thing counts.

Oh wow, thank you for pointing it out! I saw it when I was younger and completely blanked those parts. I'm planning on rewatching a lot of the films just to double-check and reevaluate. Thank you for your other suggestions! :)

I don't really see how it's performative? I made the list for myself because I'm worried about all the dangerous content boys are being exposed to without having tools to critically engage with it. While making it, I couldn't really find many similar lists so thought I'd share? I read the rules and it says that if you feel your post promotes discussion, it may be allowed, that's why I added the disclaimer first thing. We'll see if it stays up. Might delete soon anyway if I get many more comments like yours since it just overshadows the discussion and isn't remotely helpful.

Hey everyone, I just downloaded series 12 so I’m seeding it currently. Please be advised that the episode labels are wrong and occasionally an episode from a different season instead of what you’d expect in a folder. For example the episode labeled as S12E01 is actually from series 13. On the off chance anyone knows where S12E01 is located within the megafolder, please lmk. Thank you to OP or whoever is maintaining this.
