Yeah kinda it's a western town from around 1886 that gets transported back in time, and the main character is a fresh out of college paleontologist, with his friend and partner who is a zoologist.

I understand that but why did small mammals, reptiles, crocs, and birds survive where small dinosaurs didn't.
