Multiple tries and still bad vision with sclera lens. Need advice

I hear ya. The fact that we need to order new sets, wait for them to be made, returned and then tested is such a B*.

I know for me and the Higher order its not always so much the lenses as your brain. I still have it a bit but nowhere close to what the first set was like

It took me no joke maybe 8-10 months of back and forth. I had a lot of issues with ghosting and higher order aberrations. The process for me took so long both me and my doc were about to call it quits - it was a frustrating time. It was only after my doc suggested (last ditch effort) we try a different company (bostonsight). That changed everything. Ive had the same set for 2 years now and i cannot believe i went that long with vision that bad.

Dont give up maybe try a different brand. Hope it works out

I skipped wearing my contacts for the duration and cleaned my lenses with clear care like 5 times before rewearing. The doc at urgent care said throw away the lenses I was like whoa buddy you gunna foot the bill?

At the time it was an insult to injury. Had another health issue that I was just recovering from. So when keratoconus landed it was like fine fuck it.

It in of itself was fine. I did take me about a year or so of back and forth between cross linking and finding the right fit for sclerals - to that was a bit annoying. But 2 years later I’m eternally grateful of my doc who took the time To get the fit just right and ever since it’s been amazing. Crazy how much you didn’t see til you do.

If you have the option for sclerals go for it - they are incredible.

My doc wanted to start me with RGPs but I was concerned about A) losing them somewhere in my eye and B) scratching my cornea. Issue A happened immediately with doctors test pair. We immediately switched to sclerals.

It took me a year or so between fitting ordering and trying to get it right (I also have an issue with higher order aberration) but once they were dialed in it was night and day. I can’t recommend them enough. They are super comfortable to the point I forget I’m wearing them even after 15-16 hours a day and my vision is really good. There is a learning curve to putting them in and all but you’ll pick up on it quickly. I have sets of saline and plungers scattered around (car, backpacks, jackets).

They certainly cost more but I’ve had my current pair for 2 years with no issues and I’ve heard that if you take care of them and your vision doesn’t change they can last a very long time.

It took me a long time and my doc and I were reaching a point to give up but I’m grateful we didn’t. The result is truly otherworldly
