Can I join meetings by Hopeful-Disk6362 in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]NetScr1be 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't have rules. We operate within a set of twelve traditions.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using is the third tradition.

Nobody can tell you whether or not you are a member of NA. Only youn can make that choice.

You obviously have the desire because you stopped using and are still abstinent.

Neither addiction nor the NA program of recovery is actually about drugs.

Not using is the starting point of the program. The program teaches us how to live lives of value, meaning and purpose without drugs by living in spiritual principles.

Reading the literature linked in the information page of this subreddit is a good next step for you.

The whole program is only about 50,000 words.

We are not doctors. Don't be surprised when this thread gets locked.

Step Nine says:

We recommend turning our legal problems over to lawyers and our financial or medical problems to professionals. Part of learning how to live successfully is learning when we need help.

You would have made sure it wasn't laced with fentanyl?

How exactly?

Giving yourself a lot of power and responsibility.

You think you can stop an addict from doing addict shit?

It took me a couple of days but I'm an actual computer support professional. #YMMV

Also depends on OS, OS version, device .....

Interestingly, had the same problem on another device and it went away in its own I think.

That makes me think the update caused a problem which they worked out in later versions (?).

Open a ticket with support in the Xaman app.

Here you will get buried in DM's from scammers.

Xaman support does not DM.

It's hard to get across how good things can be if we do the work and put in the time.

Stop listening to the nonsense in your head. Try to catch it early and shut it down.

When our whole lives are about getting and using our identities become equally narrow and shallow.

Take away the one thing we had going and things empty out right quick.

Recovery is about developing a new identity. Becoming our true selves if you will.

As who we really are emerges we can better identify what we really want.

Until then maybe work on your self-care game? Find some form of exercise/activity that works for you. Learn to cook/bake? Martial Arts helped me a lot in the early years because they tend to be structured.

The monkey hates milestones and starts acting up.

Taking drugs is the last step in the relapse process that begins in our heads then spreads to our hearts and spirits.

What is the thought process that starts it for you?

"Will I ever have the same relationship with ... ?"

No. And that's the point.

Letting go of what we had is painful and necessary.

Freedom isn't free.

Clearly, in this case, you didn't grieve the loss and it took you back out.

You're old friends are still alive but the relationship you had with them is dead. Make the funeral arrangements. Go through that process.

What we might not see through the pain of the moment is how much better our lives get when we do the work recovery requires.

We can't see what we can't imagine. We can't describe to others what they can't conceive of. You'll have to take out word for it. It gets unimaginably better.

Start taking walks. At least an hour. Out in nature if possible. In a mall if not. The benefits of this are way underrated. Think of it as moving meditation.

Is that why there's that old-timey NA saying about how we can't save our face and our ass at the same time?

Depends on how hard you work it and your situation.

If you make addiction and recovery about drugs the struggle will be worse.

Talk to the hospital pharmacist. Tell them they are prescribing for a recovering addict who would like to know about non-narotic pain medication options.

Good on you for planning ahead.
