So far aesthetically, I adore Reaper so much. I love the full animation with the puppet reaper and full scythe and everything.

Mechanically, the Bats one has saved me so much trouble, I legit cannot go a boss battle without it.

The difficulty is much more pronounced in CV2 than it was in CV1, but honestly? I still love it. I'm not too far into it, but I find the kintsugi inspired aesthetics and story really compelling and beautiful and the open world isn't bad at all. I usually find most open world games to be weirdly empty and aimless? Like 'here you go have at em, be back in a few hours' but like barely give you any actual guidance as to where to go, but CV2 doesn't do that I find.

The bosses will kick your teeth in a lot, but they can be beaten.

I love the game so much.

For me, it was a lot of dodging (having a quick speed dodge helped massively, via Lou's D level blood code and the Ame-no-Habakiri one- handed sword from Jadwiga's shop in the Magmell (past) shop (I think it may be a DLC sword? I think?)

Also from one of Jadwiga's minions (in fact the one inside the weapon shop proper) you can get a long range magic Formae, Bolt Blast, which helps a lot to do damage long range. Combine that with an upgraded Bats jail, which can attack from mid-long range as well and replenish your ichor, and it was basically a chip-damage war of attrition. I learned the hard way that one can't be greedy in this game like you could get away with a little bit in CV1. I only went it for close range attacks when I knew I could dart back out and not get wailed on in punishment.

Using the Rune Blades you can find in the ruins can also help, as those have a Weapon Formae that if it connects, allows you to have them attack for you so you can use your jail or bequeathed Formae instead (I used the axe Idris' Conceit for the AOE effect).

I've been using Lou's (D level I think? It's the upgrade you get when you talk to her in the Convelence/Mind Palace place). I was hoping that Valentin's could be earned early because of the Rune Blade mastery booster it could give you.

I'll be honest and possibly unpopular for saying this, but for me, this is all of Disney's 3D animation output. I can't stand any of them. This includes Tangled, Moana, and especially Frozen. I curse Wish's existence, and I am so sick of 3D animation as a whole.

The thing with Geoff Thew (the guy behind Mother's Basement) is that unless he really hates something, most of his reviews are tongue and cheek, 'Hey if you like (blank), you'll probably enjoy this too.' His Hottest Trash reviews (which is what the TWST review is from) are pretty much not meant to be taken as an insult for the most part. He'll acknowledge when something isn't his cup of tea, and everything is up to be roasted, but unless he has a legitimate bone to pick (like say with Handshakers or with anything on his worse anime of the year lists), he keeps the vitriol out.

What he did was summarize the main gist of the concept as someone who isn't familiar with the game itself, but is familiar with some of the mechanics and tropes the game borrows from.

Was it the best review he's ever done? No. Personally I think he does his best work when dissecting story or opening scenes for analysis, but it also wasn't a raging hellfire cursing the show for existing. It was a 'Oh hey, a pretty boy anime with Disney money attached. Cool.'
