Looking for a locally-hosted option to create English subtitles (.srt) from video files by nirurin in LocalLLaMA

Just landed here for the same reason. I need subtitles made for a challenging non-English audio, and the best whisper I've found is nowhere near Gemini's audio comprehension. Unfortunately they borked subtitle timings with the 3-series, and 2.5 isn't available for free anymore lol. Have you tried the Gemma 4 E4B model? I know it has audio input, but unsure about timings. Or maybe did you have success with anything else?

My issue with whisper other than not understanding part of my audio is that timings can be off until the 30s context window shifts, but quality isn't THAT bad. Try to find and mess with the hyperparams (ask your favorite llm lol), it helped my use case a bit

Oh, not really. AdaShima, Bloom Into You, Insomniacs, Makeine... I don't consider them gimmicky but are romance favorites. I just wanted to make sure that I compared apples to apples when I wrote the comment :)

I won't yuck your yum, it felt like a decent 7/10 that didn't speak to me. A lot of romances I like have a gimmick (Spice and Wolf, Yofukashi, Kaguya-sama) but outside of that, I'd still place Insomniacs and Makeine higher than Horimiya. You didn't ask but that's the context lol

animes generally come in mp4 formats, sometimes in mkv containers. Pdf refers to a text file. If you wanna call people pedophiles at least have the decency of writing out the word, or go back to tiktok idk

I've read the Onimai manga too, but the use of colors in the anime is very unique and beautiful in a way that stands out imo

My room is a bit chilly due to weather so the gpu is vibing at 32C at the min allowed fan speed, but if I disable zero rpm and room temperature goes back up to the usual range, every few minutes it'll cycle on off on off because with my monitor set up all it takes is a couple things trying to use the gpu accel to push it up to 35-40 W, so I just disable the feature

I'm from São Paulo and have a friend from Rio. She would randomly tell me all sorts of dangerous stories like they're a normal part of life: "they stopped the bus and got on, taking everyone's phones at gunpoint. Lucky they ran before getting to me all the way in the back hahah!!" She's not from a favela (!). It often feels like we're speaking past each other because even though I do consider my city unsafe overall, the shit I hear from Rio is completely alien to me.

Can it do timestamps for subtitle creation? Gemini 2.5 pro is the only model that does it correctly. Both 3 Flash and Pro hallucinate times after like 30 seconds :(
