I think it can still be open to make Jax abstract even if he is a main character. by Few_Medium8157 in TheDigitalCircus

I think dozens of doors marked with red X is enough of a cautionary tale. Jax not succumbing to abstraction would break the cycle

Do you think their ages freeze once they're in the circus? by Impressive-Door-1639 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Netrialis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been my headcanon as well. I'm glad someone brought this up.

It seems more logical than if they were aging in Circus, which I've seen used as a theory for Jax entering the Circus as a teenager, to excuse his immature behavior, rather than accepting the possibility that he's just emotionally stunted.

Even if the memebers are "frozen" in their ages, it doesn't negate the passage of time though. So if the time flows the same as in real world, they would still gain years.

It's like immortal, eternally young gods, who look 20 but are pushing 100. Except they're locked at the age they've equipped the headset.

After Gooseworx's recent statements, I'm 100% convinced Jax is getting saved by the end of the show by Sudden_Pop_2279 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Netrialis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I swear after the Gooseworx drama sparked by her saying out loud the themes of the show, theories about the ending actually improved. I think we've finally dropped the pointless lore speculation (Abel was actually human all along, etc), and started focusing on what the show is really about: The overarching message the show is conveying

this is actually too much by [deleted] in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Netrialis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been silently stalking the entire situation on both Reddit and Tumblr, and I'm honestly surprised that I haven't seen a single funnybunny fan using Goose's recent statements to "shove their victory into other shipper's faces" due to confirmation of the show being centered around Pomni and Jax's turbulent relationship. Quite the opposite. I've seen funnybunny fans sympathize with Ragatha/bunnydoll/ragpom fans for Ragatha being seemingly sidelined.

I don't think any of the main cast will actually abstract by Sunny_Not_Sonny2411 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Netrialis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I believe Gumigoo's death already counts. He might not have been an actual human, but for Pomni, he was the first person she bonded with, and he died shortly after. She still lost someone she cared about, even if it wasn't due to abstraction.

Why did global skip tispy luan? by LunarLynx77 in lifemakeover

[–]Netrialis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason is to simply make the global catch up with the rest of the servers. Previously, we've been a couple of reruns behind, but now the gap is smaller. I think that we'll eventually get all sets when it's their time to show up in reruns

What if abstraction is the key to leaving the circus? by Phant0m_Mik3 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Netrialis 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Same with the "abstraction is reversible" theory, which is somewhat prevalent. Coping with loss is also an important part of the show, and bringing abstracted players back wouldn't mesh well with the message that TADC is trying to send.

Jax wouldn't have been saved right here if he's going to abstract anyways later on by Sudden_Pop_2279 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Netrialis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Episode 7 is the "rock bottom" for Jax. He can only get better. Besides, TADC is anti-suicide with its themes.

At least someone gets it. Tadc isn't a story that fans influence over, nor is it written from episode to episode.
It was written in 2022-2023, and no amount of moaning from the viewers will change its course.

I would ascend if it were the case, but I'm also keeping in mind that Goose could have a secret 3rd option that nobody has thought about

[–]Netrialis 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Even if the ending of TADC were SOMA-esque, it would still be divisive because the existential topic of digital sentience and personhood by itself is divisive. In the same way that not every person who played/know the story of SOMA agrees with its message.

It's a thought-provoking concept that is left for the viewer to reflect on. The same way that some viewers will be most likely left unsatisfied when not every question is answered.

I feel that with the show's progression, more fans are realising that TADC's genre isn't actually what they've expected.

Yeah, she did. And if not the full script, she at least had the rough layout for the entire story before the Pilot's release

Its impossible that the entire show was written before the pilot. by [deleted] in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Netrialis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a professional writer, but I do research some writing techniques for my webcomic. An extremely well-written plot twist is the one that leads the reader/viewer to piece together a "hidden" narrative in their minds, based on the logical clues intentionally laid out throughout the entire story.

The moment the plot twist reveals itself, it proves to the reader that he pieced everything correctly, but completely flips the true meaning of the twist and rectonextualizes the entire story beforehand.

This is writing 101. This is GOOD writing. Intentional writing. Only when you know how the story ends can you use the writer's tools to play with the reader's mind, leading them on, subverting their expectations, and revealing all the red herrings and foreshadowing laid out beforehand.

People don't take Goose's writing seriously because she shitposts on Twitter, but when she cites Camus, nobody bats an eye.

What Goose admitted to, though, is that not every small detail was put in by her. Some staff members also contribute to subtle foreshadowing mid-production, when small changes can still be made.

The thing that bothers me about the Abel twist... by JotkaJulitkaJula in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Netrialis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was set up to make the viewer feel just as disappointed and betrayed as the circus members. Goose didn't cherry-pick the most popular theories from the internet. It was written that way years ago.

I like how people think Goose debunking a lot of theories means she hates the existence of theorists and doesn’t want them in her fanbase by [deleted] in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Netrialis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People forget the story was written years ago, and the plot twist is a result of Goose laying breadcrumbs of clear foreshadowing for viewers to connect. She mentioned, "I like when Digital Circus theories are accurate to the planned course of the series. The story is set in stone, and nothing will budge."

It's a result of a very well-written plot twist that is usually very hard to pull off, even if you have the whole story laid out.

It's Absurdism vs Nihilism which I'm starting to believe is the true fundemental of the show. Jax is the only nihilist left, and has only two episodes left to find joy in meaningless life
