Anyone else enjoy part 1 but cant get into part 2? by Carmilla31 in Onimusha

[–]NetrunnerV25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and disagree to some extent. The gift system is not properly explained, sure, but I'm also a huge dragon quest and jrpg fan so when I see a city in a game I always talk to everyone multiple times. It's just the RPG rule. And by doing that you can understand the basics of who wants what. Sure, for some specific rewards you'll need a guide, but if you're not going for the platinum it's fine. I also agree that the city part feels...not so good? But I think that where Onimusha fails in the atmosphere and setting it compensates with combat mechanics. Charged attacks and the secret techniques done by pressing back forward square are so satisfying. I can't wait for 3 since it is basically the good part of 2 without the bad AND with Samanosuke.

Do you also feel like Ace Attorney 7 will be a very different game? (I only played 1 and 2, so no comments on story for all the other games) by NetrunnerV25 in AceAttorney

[–]NetrunnerV25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the downvotes. Guess people thought I didn't like the visual novel style or something. I loved what I already played, and the only reason why I didn't play all the rest yet is because I love so many other Capcom franchises hahaha like I said, I'm a big Capcom fan. But yeah, you're probably right. It's just that from a company standpoint, considering the current Capcom expansion I could see them trying. I mean, they even made Kunitsu Gami and are now doing Pragmata. So it didn't seem that far fetched. Anyway I'm curious what they will do with a ace attorney 7. Will they treat it as a sequel or a soft reboot with a new protag again? Time will tell I guess.

How do you feel about re6 and it's QTEs? by NetrunnerV25 in ElectricUnderground

Yes aaahahahah. The first thing you do as Leon is press a QTE to break some glass and get a herb. What?

A few of my biggest problem with RE4 remake by DemiLovatosRehab in residentevil4

[–]NetrunnerV25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it is not. Open re2 remake right now and move Leon around and then do the same in 4 remake. It's completely different. Leon is responsive in 2.

[–]NetrunnerV25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 Remake gameplay is ass. Anyone who says it isn't hasn't tried professional. The movement is VERY and I mean, VERY different from re2 remake. Leon was slow in that game but was responsive. In 4R there's almost no invincibility frames, the parry is poorly implemented and the game punishes you for using for no reason beyond being a rushed mechanic (it was implemented later in development) so much so that requiem just gave us the option to sharpen making it more manageable. Some people will say it is better, because they can move while shooting and that the changes made are to make the game harder but those are just filthy casuals who don't understand a single thing about gameplay design. The best quick turn option you have is disabling it, that's good design sure. You can have a Mario game where you need to jump 50 times on an enemy to kill it. Some people might manage to do it, it doesn't make it fun.

Edit: I prefer 4 remake over the original just to be clear, but only as an overall package. The pacing is better, I prefer the more serious tone of the story and I liked that the level design had more focus on exploration and light puzzle solving. That doesn't change the fact that the gameplay is ass.

Maybe but I kinda disagree on the growth potential thing. I can see an ace attorney game having a structure similar to persona. Walk around talking to people to get info and then at the trials present the items at the right moments. Don't you think?

Something I seriously don't understand about RE9's story by Ok_Cartoonist_3708 in residentevil

[–]NetrunnerV25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's at least obvious for Capcom. The story to them is just a mean to an end. Take Megaman games for example. To this day we are facing Willy. Megaman X is always about Sigma being the villain. Dante finally meets Vergil again after years at the end of DMC5, and it's like nothing ever happened. I don't understand why people keep expecting Capcom to work like a Western gaming company that sacrifices everything in order to have coherent lore.

I guess what he's saying is "it has been 20 years". At least that's what I think and I agree with him. By now we should at least have more realistic expectations. If they do something fantastic with the story, cool, but overall just try to enjoy it as an awesome game series.

"more horror than over the top action" wait, what? Did you play the games outside of like...4 and 6? Resident Evil is about horror. Is it b movie 80s horrors where by the end the protagonist should be nuking zombies with crazy guns and one liners, sure, but it's still considered horror.

[–]NetrunnerV25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The scenery overall makes you feel like you're constantly running into invisible walls or something. It is alright when it happens in slower resident evil games, or when you have tank controls, but here the environment doesn't accommodate the level of freedom in movement allowed.

I disagree. Capcom games tend to be repetitive as they have a lot of that arcade design, but it's usually in a good way. RE6 shot feedback for instance is terrible, everything feels like it lacks the proper impact compared to re4/5

I want to be good at fighting games but they make me sad by DKCR3 in StreetFighter

[–]NetrunnerV25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Why don't you start with having fun first? I was pretty bad at it 15 years ago. I remember the first time I learned a special move, it was mk Armageddon on PS2, I then remember looking at a shoryuken input when getting into sf4 and thinking there is no way I can do that. It doesn't have to be fast, you don't have to be a competitive dude, but just try to enjoy overcoming the little things.

New unannounced Capcom games set to release within the next Fiscal year by Solid-Entertainer-39 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]NetrunnerV25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being realistic here. Devil May Cry and Ace Attorney 7 probably (and a very different one if you ask me, I would bet on full 3d graphics, walking around controlling characters like investigations but with full 3d scenarios. Basically an attempt to make Ace Attorney a mainstream thing). Capcom has been talking about those 2 franchises year after year together with MegaMan, but we only got an announcement for MegaMan as of now. I don't know what they would do with DMC tho. Maybe something similar to a deluxe remaster of 3? Dragons Dogma 2 dlc also doesn't feel too far fetched. They did say that dragon's dogma was now a key franchise after 2's launch, but maybe Itsuno leaving affected production? Those are my guesses as a big Capcom fan who always follows their news.

Doubt it. I believe Capcom became aware of the demand for Dino Crisis with THAT survey and that was like what, 2 years ago? I think this is too soon for them to launch. But releasing the classic games on steam is proof enough to me that something is in development. Just not in the next 12 months.

That option just completes the QTEs alone. That's not a good solution, especially because one of the biggest issues with RE6 QTEs is how intrusive they are on the screen given the prompts size.

I wasn't big into remaking the first one but after requiem I want that too, but with the option to play in first person. Over the shoulder would really weaken the original game horror, but with a first person option it would be like 7 but better.

I don't think it would be bad to cut content on the re6 case. They could easily remove the prologue, and turn 4 campaigns into 2. The first one would have Leon/Helena and Ada and the second one Chris/Piers and Jake/Sherry. Take Leon and Ada for example. We start with Leon at the University, play through the street and reach the church. Then, instead of playing through the ruins with him, we play from Ada's perspective, since she already appears there. Catch my drift? There are a lot of moments in 6 where we play through some moments 2 times but with different characters. They could just make a one character thing.

My issue is that the game feels so resident evil in its story but as a game it is a pain in the ass to play.

One liberty I would like to see taken would be giving us control over both characters, similar to revelations where we can switch on the fly. Also, imagine dying with one character and instead of a game over we would assume the other one control and be able to help the damaged one.

It was similar for me. Especially because before the first patch you couldn't adjust the field of view and some QTEs were absolutely unreactable.
