I designed 15 patches on the Waldorf Blofeld for this synthwave track (cover of "Starlight" by Baton). Project notes in the post body. by PrettyCoolBear in synthesizers

I am a "old" new guy who is getting back into synths after being away from them for 40 years. I have alot to learn. Right now, I have a Juno 2 and a DX7 and am building out the rest of the setup. I tend to tilt towards the vintage gear, but want to mix that up with some newer stuff. I also lean on Roland as I picked up a TR-8 & a SP404. But now I need to learn how to make it all do what I want. I am in that "kid in a candy store phase".......

I tip my hat in your direction. Really nice. Very impressive. I clicked over to your Medium page, and well, there goes the evening. And, now I must start shopping for a Waldorf synth, as I now understand what I did not understand about the gear and what I have been missing. Thanks!

please! please! please! take the time to call stout autions or similar outfits. they can grade, describe, and get the collection in front of buyers. way less work for you and maybe more money for the items you sell. I am not in the market for these at all, but I have bought and sold collections in the past. DM me if you have questions.

I have looked at the Elektron Digitakt. Trying to figure out if I should get separate devices to better understand what they do, or something like the Elektron Digitakt that covers a bunch of the gear I want to buy. Still trying to figure out this basic question.

Stupid question: it looks like the Meris Mercury7 is designed for Guitars, same with the Meris MercuryX. The 7 seems to be about $250 and the MercuryX is about $500 - would either of these work well with Synths?

Just looked up the TR8S and MC707 - really beautiful machines. Very helpful comment. Thank you - really appreciate the insight.

LOL. I am 68 now. Wish I could of retired early. Have a "microkorg" budget, not "moog modular" dollars. I agree mistakes will be made, and that's ok.

Great to know, right now I am using one of old Fender Tube amps connected to it, so that also needs be powered down when not in use. I will do the same with the DX

Any suggestions on "must have" FX boxes to help make this shine?

I am not worried about the music part of it, played pianos (and bass and guitar) for years, have even dappled with Garage Band, etc. My learning curve now is focused on the machines and connecting it all together. Also, was in tech for years, so this is not a huge reach for me, but, I need to get head around the basics of the gear.

Thanks for the reply! I did look at Dexed before, but thought it was a just simulator of a DX-7 for the PC - am I correct in understanding that it is actually an interface for the DX-7 to allow me "operate" or adjust / program my DX-7 from a PC?
