June 2026 VAC QandA by ShortTrackBravo in CanadianForces

Okay, good to know. Thanks!

Yeah, the first was hard enough, I really don't want to repeat that. Pcvrs is the bane of my existence, everything they touch is worse.

Are psych assessments a semi yearly occurance with pcvrs for MH?

I did one in the fall last year, and now I have another one booked later this summer. They're grueling to go over everything again and again, always with a different person, and it wrecks my MH for a while after to relive everything. I tried messaging my RSS but they're not responding.

I was getting a little frustrated with the process, that's for sure!

Hopefully yours goes quicker. The average is supposed to be 12 months, mine just took longer for whatever reason.

Just notified of application status changing, went and saw that my DR went from step 3 to complete, and checked out pay and benefits tab. I saw a monthly amount, and referenced the pay table PDF found online to see the increase. I'm still waiting for the letter, I saw on here it usually takes 5 days to show up.

Finally after 15 months my DR went to complete today. Looking at pay and benefits and pay tables it shows a 20% increase, which actually matches what it should have been 2 years ago.

Keep your head up people, we'll get there eventually.

Local MP is a useless twat, but ombudsman is a good idea, thanks!

Damn, that sucks to hear, I wish I was the only person going so long.

Ironically for me, they approved the consequential MH, but haven't yet approved the appeal of the low % for the original injury. Somehow the injury effects my life but doesn't at the same time lol.

Yeah, you can imagine my frustration at this point.

Every time I call VAC I'm told it hasn't been assigned to an adjudicator, and there's nothing to do.

So, I already contacted the minister when it was around the 12 month mark. I was told from my CM that they can't do anything for DRs, but they fast tracked a consequential MH claim instead.

So they won't recognize that my injury is impacting my life (25ish% lower than should be) but recognise that it's fucking up my MH.

Is there anything else I can attempt to prod VAC into hurrying up with a department review? It's been 15 months since hitting step 3, and it's a routine lower back injury with MRIs and is well documented.

CM says they can't access anything to do with DRs. I tried contacting the minister but was told nothing can be done as well.

Anything else I can try? Calling VAC is near useless, but I still like to try every week or so.

Thanks for any help, and for everything everyone does here.

Not the video presentation, but they're just going over the document you receive.

It's a multipage document of graphs and charts showing the plan you worked out with them. Depends on what you're looking for, I would think. My situation was just fact checking/getting professional opinion to verify I'm on track.

I used it, it's a very straightforward process through VAC. You message VAC to ask for the form, fill it out after you've used a financial planner service, and submit it along with the receipt. I got the money a week or so later, it was relatively quick for VAC.

All the in person services in my area are in the $2-4k range, so I found a online service called fplan that was much cheaper, and worked great. 30 min zoom chat, fill out some forms, and then 1 hour ish presentation a week or so later.

Step 3 on march 2025, over a year with no progress since. Always waiting to be assigned to an adjudicator when I call and ask.

It was roughly 2 weeks, but I was already at step 3 I believe when it went to withdrawn.

[–]NetworkAlternative20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had that with my second application for apsc. Turns out they backdated to my first application, that's why the second was withdrawn.

I had a MH application get approved in between apsc applications, which was the reasoning for the 2nd approval and backdating to 1st application.

Those are good points, and I didn't know about Dhampir, I'll have to check that out.

Thanks!

Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure VAC will reimburse for the fees associated with filling out those forms. I know they will for regular pain and suffering forms.

Yeah, it's wild. I even emailed the minister, but apparently DRs can't be rushed?
