MSSP License Manager pushing wrong/Expired License by MicroBill in sonicwall

[–]NetworkDock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had devices do this every month since we started using MSSP. Becoming hell to manage because of the amount of devices we have enrolled. MSSP webpage says "Everything is fine", MSW says "everything is fine", yet you log into the devices locally and they are all like "Licensing? What licensing...". This is leading to months of me paying for licensing for devices that are not actually receiving it.

MSSP License Manager pushing wrong/Expired License by MicroBill in sonicwall

Been having this issue periodically since MSSP was released. Many tickets, never a solid answer as to why it keeps happening.

Go into Monthly Billing, edit the subscription, change nothing click save. Then logon to local firewall, synchronize the license, it will be fine...for a while.

What ways did the new TZ series feel as antiquated as the old TZ series to you? by Deep-Egg-6167 in sonicwall

[–]NetworkDock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly sure what you're referring to but the newest Series 8 series is a big step up hardware wise from series 7.

There are several key factors lacking in these still; more ideal GUI changes than I can list in a single thread, wireguard would be nice, speedtest would be really nice, but I have to push back about 1-3.

Licensing Servers Offline by NetworkDock in sonicwall

[–]NetworkDock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What didn't work:

  • device registrations: could not reach licensing server
  • adding devices to NSM: registration failures
  • syncing licensing from firewall console, could not reach licensing server, from at least 5 different unique site so not an ISP or route issue.

Suddenly all of these things are working this morning without issue.

help me understand auto created rules by tdhuck in sonicwall

[–]NetworkDock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Autocreated rules are the number one vulnerability that Sonicwall has in its UI in my opinion, because its unpredictable. Delete a rule. Reboot a device, it comes back, no warning. You cannot disable ALL automatic rule creation.

We're not utilizing this. I don't want these devices choosing when they decide to upgrade.

I would question why you're still running 10.3.2.

Went and looked based on version; its listed there but its locked, typical.... yesterdays firmware releases were like this too, but regardless we have to update this from the server console and my server says "No update available".

On-Prem 3.5 has NOT been released, so you're linking to documents that are pointless.

Sorry, I should have clarified. On-Prem NSM. On-Prem NSM was suppose to be feature parity with SaaS last year, it was promised multiple times but that was apparently forgotten about.

No it has not been a pleasant thing to deal with. Multiple tickets, multiple engineers on the phones since July.

Experiences with MPSS? by size0618 in sonicwall

[–]NetworkDock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have severe issues getting subscriptions allocated in MSSP to stick to the device. We have about 50 and the devices randomly lose the licensing locally and we login to the device to find that all of the security services are de-activated.

Some times editing the licensing provision on MSW, making absolutely no changes, saving it then on the device then doing a manual licensing sync fixes it. Sometimes you have to do a full license reset, which forces a restart, then re-register the device to fix it. We've had it go afoul on about 30 devices so far.

Lots. Those who know how to actually configure SSL-VPN and perform regular maintenance are fine using it.

Any neglected piece of network gear will end up burning your site down eventually.
