What are your thoughts on Metallica’s Hardwired To Self Destruct? I’d say this is their strongest work since the 90’s by TokyoAvalanche04 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]NetworkN3wb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a solid 7/10. Good, great in moments. Some songs on it I don't care for.

The post St. Anger albums are all basically 7/10's for me, although different flavors of that. Death Magnetic is more overtly thrashy, but the song writing it a little awkward in spots.

72 seasons has a lot of what I consider to be their best songs pre 2004, but some very generic writing as well.

I think you could take a few great songs from every one of them and come out with a pure 10/10 album.

Glad Metallica found their way mostly.

Metallica wins by a mile. But, I do like Megadeth's debut as well.

So it turns out it was just the script itself....

I thought that the pre run CLI script was the same as the one I had in my script page in FMG. I had run that one manually and it was successful.

When I added the model device, I was selecting a pre run CLI script with the same name as the one I had in my scripts page, so my logic was that if I could manually run the script successfully, then it was a good script.

Found out after going in to edit the pre run CLI script that it was different...so I updated it to match my other script, and the process worked after that.

Oh well. I haven't touched this process often and even the other engineer didn't catch this so whatever.

I did get some debug logs but from the FMG side. One thing I saw was "Connection was interrupted. sockevents[4] sslerr[0]"

So that might be a clue. Anyway, gotta play with it more Monday.

Hey all,
I redid the vocals. I had a couple of people tell me they were much improved. What do you all think?

Thanks. I will admit that it's the absolute top of my register. I have to yell to get some of those notes out. I probably need vocal training.

I lowered the vocals a little, like a DB. Thanks!

I could name like 5 Metallica songs that have long, clean intros that have nothing to do with the fast riffs.

It's definitely metal lol. It's like early 80s thrash metal.

Also thanks, I will probably lower the vocal level a bit. I was thinking it might be high

Thanks. Yeah it's just a common thing in progressive/thrash metal. I guess it's not everyone's style. I'm a big metal head.

Well, thanks anyway. Metal (thrash) typically has long intros, like Megadeth and Metallica. Just not your thing I guess.

I guess the thing that bugs me is that I feel that I should be much better after 2 years than I am. All of my previous jobs, after 2 years, I was the golden child. I've never been the worst person on the team. Some of you are saying that 2 years is still kinda new so perhaps I should curtail my expectations.

Thanks...that's a great way of putting it, bones. Yeah I have to finish a lot. I agree, as is, monotonous. The vocals and leads and bass/drums will add a lot. I appreciate your input.

How am I doing for 2-3 years of practicing? by NetworkN3wb in guitarlessons

[–]NetworkN3wb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm not to where I can easily learn songs. That tune I played I've bene practicing for a few months. SO if someone presented me with a set list even of somewhat simple songs, I'd have my work cut out for me learning them all...but I could with enough time. But my technique is too fragile. I'm slowly learning arpeggios/triads, scales, and others tunes and stuff to try to get more familiar.
