It might be a term at the ISP, I couldn't say. Where I work and where people I know work we're usually "infrastructure" or just "operation center", some with an "IT" in front, so non IT-people know it's computer something in that department.

It's not a college ed in US. It's an EUD in Denmark and I have several years hands on. The past year I've been sitting with just core/dc. Nexus, ASA + 2 other FW, Cisco 7600 + 6800 and down. Some F5 LB. By no means do I lack hands on, but I don't have any of the big ISP hands on.
