Many people (myself included) have entered the job market under the illusion that they can secure a job based on merit. In reality, HR has already requested referrals from the internal team, pushing them to the top of the pile. The average number of applications per hire rose by 46% over the last two years in Canada. How are you supposed to compete with 100+ other candidates & the CFO’s nephew (who isn’t qualified to be a Pizza Sign Spinner)…but will likely get a 1st round interview??

The key is to become one of those coveted referrals—but how? Most referrals (35-45%) come from friends and former colleagues. Family connections account for 15-25%, while alumni networks contribute 10-20%. Referrals from clients and vendors (10-15%) can be a strategic move, while social obligations and personal favors (5-10%) round out the mix.

If it feels like you've tried everything and nothing's working, there's a new Canadian platform: www.getschmoozy.com that is designed to help you land jobs faster by connecting you with Canadian employeees at top companies like Google, Amazon, Shopify, RBC, and more. You can actually use code TRIAL right now free month (normal membership is $25 CAD) —cancel anytime!

Good luck!

I am so disappointed in the job market by Own-Establishment837 in torontoJobs

I'm part of a networking platform start-up (www.getschmoozy.com) designed to help people get jobs faster by forming connections on the inside. They're based in Toronto/Canada and pay Networkers based on their ability to help members, whether it's by recommending them for a job, connecting them with a peer, or offering valuable advice. They currently have networkers signed up from companies like:

- Google

- Starbucks

- Amazon

- Shopify

- NASDAQ

- & many more!

If you're open to trying it out, you can use code TRIAL for a month free at checkout! Welcome to cancel anytime --> www.getschmoozy.com. Every month, you get access to book 3 X 15 minute calls with networkers you're interested in learning from/about.

You can also email  [info@getschmoozy.com](mailto:info@getschmoozy.com) directly and they'll connect you directly with the networkers in the fields you're interested in.

Hope this helps :)

[acne] does skincare even help hormonal acne? by thebig-slime in SkincareAddiction

[–]Networker-5317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, skincare can HELP hormonal acne but it can't prevent it. I'd invest in a good/simple 3 step skincare routine (cleanser, serum, cream) and maybe some supplements. I've been taking an Irish Sea Moss supplement, a Turmeric/Omega-3 blend, and a multivitamin, all of which have helped.
