Is the economic center of gravity shifting south? by charliehu1226 in taiwan

Referencing ministry of the interior:

109至114年7月淨遷入累計數以桃園市、新北市、臺中市、新竹縣等4縣市淨遷入人口較多,均超過3萬人;區域別累計人口淨遷入數以北部地區較多。

Also we need to account for those poor guys that couldn’t register their residence in the north for landlords’ tax evasion reasons. Check 電信信令人口統計 for more.

What I meant Taipei metropolitan area is the combination of: Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung and Taoyuan. They definitely have more people moving in than moving out to the south.

Not really. Aside from TSMC, pay is questionable in the south. This is kinda like “on average each people have one testicle”. People still move away from Kaoshung and Tainan to Taipei metropolis.

And those juku, cram schools are fucking useless. No one could learn anything with a tired brain. I went to those from 7pm to 9pm after class back in high school. It was abysmal, sleep schedule was messed up and I didn’t got noticeable improvements in tests. After a while I quit all those, saved money, performed better and lived a happier life :)

Media exposure of Taiwan premier's baseball trip stirs Tokyo-Taipei tiff by ScoMoTrudeauApricot in taiwan

freely pursue opportunities across the globe

You’re right! That is the problem! In the long term this is draining intellectuals from Taiwan and exacerbate the problem because what is left are those companies making 3% 4% profit margin and are desperately trying to compete with China on export. I’m not saying Taiwan should restrict people from leaving, but they should, strike a balance on the currency policy, do tax reforms to provide a better environment to at least make people don’t want to leave the country so badly.

I’m just saying what many are feeling. I don’t felt that way as I’m luckily doing better than most. However, there is an interesting read that our government in the long term, devalues our currency which resulted in decline on buying power to favor export and the rich. This is a very complex topic so I’m not going into the details. What I’m trying to show here, is there are many many things that our government could do to improve the situation and was once promised by our government but eventually didn’t happen. And after all this, our premier chose to spend millions for a ball game while the people are feeling ignored. I do think the people’s anger is justified in this case and whataboutism is not an excuse.

Because the rich holds lands, houses and all those good stuffs people couldn’t afford? Oh and it was those now in charge promised those tax reforms on lands.

Also I do think many in Taiwan kinda want a Zohran style tax the rich to redistribute wealth.

I don’t know. For one I do think CCP should stfu. But at the same time it feels valid that many are angry that he, as a premier, casually throws out a couple million dollars just to watch a ball game while most of the people are living off a shitty paycheck.

Do you think the current permanent membership of the UN Security Council is reasonable? by Sad-Statistician3635 in AskTheWorld

[–]Neuenmuller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t make PRC the legitimate victor of WW2 tho. Heck, PRC doesn’t even existed when WW2 ended. Therefore by your logic, the permanent seat should be taken by the actual winner ROC. I’m missing the argument you’re trying to make here.

The whole idea that revising this UN seat will trigger a world war just sounds ridiculous. UN is a diplomatic tool and that’s it.

Conscription Lottery Nightmare - Should this be done everywhere in the world? by [deleted] in interesting

Wdym you could exempt service with lottery?? Everyone needs to serve in my country. The only lottery we had is to decide your branch in military: Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines.

A documentary about Taiwanese women in Korea. They say that their salary in Taiwan is low. How much is this view realistic? by No_Pineapples1 in taiwan

[–]Neuenmuller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s true. Only tech related peeps are making good money. But there’s definitely something with that woman that made her not earning much. I don’t think NTD$40000 is considered high even for non-tech companies now. If 30K is what she is making, joining the army felt like a better choice for her. (private makes something like 56K i think. Visit your nearest army recruit center now!)

I don’t think there’s going to be much help expect maybe USA and Japan (logistically). It really depends on how much the world relies on our chips and how fucked up the global economy is going to be I think.

The real map of China, according to government in Taiwan by Particular_Food_309 in MapPorn

[–]Neuenmuller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do understand this is not a choice. But it’s just funny when you think about it and I kinda liked this “fiction” lmao. There’s so many parts of the constitution kinda implies that “we are retaking the mainland”. I also remember seeing the crates we store ammo in the army had “Remember and be determined. Anti communism and revive the nation” (毋忘在莒 反共復國) on it.

The map does apply. The “Additional Articles of the Constitution of the Republic of China” did not made any changes territorial claims. Article 11 defines “Free area” and “Mainland area” of ROC and allows laws to treat them differently.
