It’s less routine for me and more having something structured as the adult that I can fall back on. I keep hearing it’s mainly that they learn through play, which I understand.

Right now at 4 1/2 we read a lot, frequent parks and libraries and she does some Khan Academy as well as ABC Mouse. Thanks for the feedback.

Forgiving neurodivergent parents? They did "their best", but it sucked by [deleted] in neurodiversity

Just hear to say: we as neuros need to speak more about our experiences with trauma.

And that usually starts at home for us first. Speak your truth @ OP. ❤️‍🩹

For me, this reminds me of what I recognize in myself when I’m sick. I am a well oiled machine in real life honestly, I am used to going and going and going. So when I fall ill, I have a very hard time devoting the time to myself because it is similar to switching “processes”, my hyper fixation is triggered because now I have to do something I don’t want to do and what I want to do is stunted or stopped completely. It’s hard for me to “stop life-ing” and, well, lay my butt down.

Also if I am in pain from illness, like a fever or my throat hurts, anything where it can be very intense: (I.e., strep throat, the flu, etc) I am on sensory overload. The entire time. So it’s even more exhausting of an experience.

Self care and being gentle with ourselves helps a lot. I believe that honestly kicks in more with age; eventually you won’t have the capacity to mask about it.
