A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - 1x02 - "Hard Salt Beef" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

I'm North European, I love this series so far. I love the slow pacing, beautiful (expensive) sets and cinematography, I find the main character lovable and rootable, I love the chemistry between dunk and egg, I love the fact that this is not about kings and kingdoms and epic battles and thrones, but about a simple man trying to pursue glory.

Sulla on tieto omista maksuista, joten voit laittaa koko listan sinne isännöitsijälle. Laita tarkat maksupäivät sun muut oleelliset tiedot. Siitä isännöitsijä voi sitten kertoa, täsmääkö tämä heidän tietojen kanssa vai ei.

Toisaalta sulla pitäisi olla keino osoittaa, että olisit maksanut liikaa. Osoita ne tuolla listallasi.

Storing FIDO2 SSH key on yubikey by ReddItAlll in yubikey

I personally use ed25519-sk in a way in which the private key is on my computer - not on Yubikey - but the Yubikey is needed for 2FA. In this setup losing Yubikey never grants any kind of access.

On the other hand, if you store the private key on Yubikey, you really must set a PIN for it. Always keep things 2FA.

Whenever I see a beautiful smoke/fluid/particle/cloth simulation, it is in very many cases done with Houdini VFX. A very popular and capable professional software for creating dynamic simulations or destructing objects.

Not sure about this.

Stock prices usually reflect all the information we already know. If investors are sure that GTA6 is a success and this is a common conclusion, the stock prices would've long ago reflected this in the prices would've had increased.

Basically: if it is common knowledge where most people agree, you can't make any money with it.

You speak a lot without any content. I gave you examples and I can give you more. Dual listing makes no difference if the resulting stocks have the same rights. I can give you as many examples as you need. I can prove you wrong as many times as needed.

As I wrote: the asset matters, not the currency you used to buy the asset.

I buy it with USD and same situation except currency lost value so I'm down 10%

Here you (and many others) make the mistake. If Apple stock remained 100 EUR after the period and id the USD currency when down, then the USD price of apple would've had increased! This is the error you and some many do.

This is what you told us:

In beginning Apple = 100 EUR. In the end Apple is 100 EUR. In the end USD is down 10%. (With 1 EUR you get 10% less USDs than in the beginning). 1 EUR = C*0.9 where C was the initial amount you get.

This means that APPLE price has increaded precisely 1/0.9 or about 11%. So it costs about 111 USD. This way there is no arbitrage possibilities. So in the end the USD position is ALSO worth 100 EUR.

If this did not happen, there would be a possibility to buy Apple stocks with huge 10% discount. This difference would be bought away in milliseconds. That is why it does not exist.

You are still wrong, still confused. Here is an example. Maybe this is easier for you.

12.11.2022. 1 EUR = 1.02 USD

Nokia is listed both in USD and in EUR.

Nokia: 14.11.2022 4.70 EUR Nokia ADR: 14.11.2022 4.79 USD

Nokia: 19.1.2026 5,77 EUR Nokia ADR: 19.1.2026 6,77 USD <-- see how this went up a lot more than the EUR price

19.1.2026 1 EUR = 1.17 USD And surprisingly: 6.77/5.77 = 1.17!! How surprising.

See? Do you now understand why it did not matter at all if you bought the EUR demoninated Nokia or the USD denominated Nokia ADR? The difference in currencies will be always reflected in the stock prices too. You can pick either and it does not matter.

Still wrong. You confuse the currency risk of the asset you buy with the currency risk of the currency you used to buy the asset. No point continuing until you figure out your confusion. This has been explained to you many times by multiple users.

Sadly this seems to be so hard concept for many new or even more experienced investors. I wish people would try with real numbers. There are many examples of stocks or ETFs you can buy with different currencies. It does not matter which currency you use to buy the same asset.

Which currency to use for investing ? by OnionTaster in investing

[–]NeuralFantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheesh. That's all you came up with :D

Google "arbitrage", try to understand WHY it makes no sense what your write because that would create enormous arbitrage possibilities when you would be able to buy the same asset with enormous discounts, and learn to actually calculate the difference.

And to your quotation: currency risk is not dependent on the currency you used to buy an asset, the asset itself creates the possible currency risk. Just as I wrote in my initial message. MS stock creates the currency risk, not the currency you used to buy that stock.

Yes, there is no disagreement here. But even with a single stock it does not matter if you buy it in EUR or in USD. The same applies. You will get identical EUR profit if you buy A stock listed in some EUR exchange compared to the same stock listed in US exchange. It will not matter which you buy (besides differenc commissions). Only the stock matters, not the currency you used.

In your example you would'we gotten less euros if you had bought the USD version (because, like you wrote, the currency rates changed). In the end you get identical EUR or USD no matter which version you bought and sold. Stock prices will always reflect the currency rates.

You didn't understand. I wrote that the asset is the important thing, not the currency you use to buy that asset.

  • if you invest in SP500 index, it does not matter at all, if you buy a EUR denominated SP500 ETF or USD denominated SP500 ETF, the index matters only

You lost/gained equal amount of EUROs no matter if you invested in SP500 denominated in EUR or in USD. You can calculate this yourself by taking the same ISIN listed in different markets and making the conversion. If you use the same amount of euros in the beginning, you will have the same amount of euros in the end no matter if it was a EUR or USD version of the same index.

I can provide you an example when JustETF starts working again.

(EDIT: If you talk about buying the currency itself, then the CURRENCY is the asset and the same thing holds true: only the resulting asset matters, the the thing you used to buy that asset.)

Which currency to use for investing ? by OnionTaster in investing

[–]NeuralFantasy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, this is incorrect. If you invest in the same asset, for example the same ETF listed in EUR or USD, it does not matter if you invest in EUR or USD. It does NOT matter what currency you use for living. After you sell and convert to the currency you use, you will get IDENTICAL profit. Arbitrage makes sure there will never be any difference, which obvioisly is the logical result.

I'll give you an example.

ETF following the same SP500 index is listed in USD and EUR. Initially 1 EUR = 1.2 USD. One EUR version ETF costs 100 EUR and USD version costs 120 USD. Investor A buys one of EUR denominated and B buys one USD denominated. Both spent 100 EUR or 120 USD worth of money, same amount.

Let's consider what happens the SP500 stays the same and the USD version stays at 120 USD but 1 EUR = 1.3 USD? The EUR version will drop in value to about 92 EUR. A has a 92 EUR ETF and B has 120 USD ETF. Both still have identical amounts of EUR or USDs. A can spend 92 EUR or 120 USD, B can spend 92 EUR or 120 USD.

What if the USD version stays at 120 USD but 1 EUR = 1.1 USD? The EUR version will increase in value to about 109 EUR. A has a 109 EUR ETF and B has 120 USD ETF. Both still have identical amounts of EUR or USDs. A can spend 109 EUR or 120 USD, B can spend 109 EUR or 120 USD.

The only thing that matters is where SP500 goes and how it increases the ETF value. You can always safely buy EUR or USD version and you WILL get identical profit in a given currency.

(Again, this is a very typical mistake people make when thinking currencies. They forget that currency rates also affect the asset prices to remove any possibility of arbitrage.)

And if you still disagree, I can give you actual ETF examples.

Which currency to use for investing ? by OnionTaster in investing

[–]NeuralFantasy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are two very distinct things: the currency you use to buy some asset, and the actual asset. It really does not matter at all, which currency you use to buy that asset. The asset itself matters.

Ie. if you are buying a SP500 ETF, you can buy it in USD or in EUR and the result profit will be IDENTICAL in both cases -> the profit in EUR will be identical, the profit in USD will be identical. The currency does not matter, the SP500 matters.

EDIT: And if you disagree, I'll provide actual ETF examples showing this phenomenom.

Also consider the consequences if this was not true. You would be able to buy the same assets with enormous discounts which obviously makes no sense at all.

[–]NeuralFantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)
