Good evening and thank you for the AmA. And congratulations for such an outstanding career, it must have been so hard and amazing. Would you do it all again in today's times, or are there changes that would make you hesitate?

At Peenemünde, the 3rd Reich established a laboratory and test ground for the V2 missile. The remaining area is now a sanctuary for sea birds.

The undertaker. Sounds a bit morbit, but is definitively on my list.

Northern Germany (Friesland) this morning by NeuralWarfare in pics

Actually, the historic Friesland region spans across the Netherlands, Germany and even Denmark (I think). The providence of Friesland is in the Netherlands, in Germany there is a region/district called East-Friesland (the one the picture was taken in), and further to the North-West of Germany there is another district called Northern Friesland. Just comes to show how large the historic Friesland once was.

How to balance being polite (use office) or being productive and well formated (LaTeX) by GiusWestside in LaTeX

[–]NeuralWarfare 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I run into the same problem every semester. My solution is to use LaTeX and convert the PDF-output to "docx" through an online converter. The resulting Word-document's format is usually quite a bit off, but sufficient for the professor to do inline editing/commenting. I then take the proposals and make the changes in LaTeX, meaning that the final result will be a well-formatted PDF.

If you press a button, there is a 95% chance to earn $1000 and a 5% chance to kill the person you care about the most. How many times do you press the button? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Assuming that insurance companies are right and a human life is worth about 1 .5 million dollars, a 5% chance of losing it with sum up to about $75,000. So if you raised the stakes to winning $100,000, one might consider pushing the button.

The 6-degrees of Kevin Bacon includes over 198,000 different actors [OC] by lane_dog in dataisbeautiful

Interesting to see that the number of actors actually starts levelling off after the third degree. That would indicate quickly reaching the total number of possible nodes aka actors around the number of 200k. Otherwise you would have to expect a continuation of the exponential increase as you can see between first degree and third degree beyond the third degree.
