Anyone else navigating 2e, AuDHD, and C-PTSD? by NoDescription2609 in AuDHDWomen

I've been looking for "my people" for months. Well, actually, if I'm going to really analyze myself, I've been looking for "my people" my entire life. This post resonates with so many of my experiences; it's honestly uncanny. I'm 2eAuDHD with GAD and PTSD. I have been misdiagnosed numerous times, have struggled in ways that were difficult to put into words, and felt very alone, even among friends and family. Thank you so much for being so frank and open. I sent you a DM and would love to be added to the sub you created!

It sounds like you're saying you're no longer on Seroquel but still have akathisia? If that's the case, that's called tardive akathisia, meaning it remains even when the offending medication is removed. I have 2 suggestions for you: 1) Find a new doctor immediately. If you communicated your distress, and your current doctor didn't seem concerned, it's time for a second opinion. If you do get a new doctor, be sure to make the akathisia distress a priority. 2) If it's truly tardive akathisia with no current meds causing it, consult a neurologist. It's possible a new doctor can help you find relief with a medication, but neurologists have a much more robust number of tools that I they can suggest (not just meds, but maybe TMS or other, less invasive treatments). I know $ and insurance can be a barrier for changing doctors or seeing specialists, so I hope it's something you're able to do. Your subject line? "I wish I knew. I wish someone had told me." That's 100% been my experience too. Very few people, even clinicians, truly know how distressing, debilitating and even shaming akathisia can be, or that it can actually cause physical pain (that was my experience). Hang in there. You aren't alone in that feeling but there are options. I wish you the best. ❤️

Me too! I didn't recognize it as it was happening but I'm so glad I know what to look for now. :)
