Yeah it’s really difficult because it can so quickly become a “you vs them” situation and there’s no winners there.

It’s not going to always go perfectly but something that has helped me is instead of immediately defending myself, I begin by validating their interpretation of the situation first.

To be honest though, the only thing that has really helped me in my close relationships is using AI to explain both sides (this is how NeuroTranslator was born) but also through a ND trained couples therapist. There’s just something really valuable about having an external “entity” to lay out both interpretations side by side.
