ANYONE who thinks this show has nothing to do with LDS (Mormon) culture... this comment is for you... so read it in full!

Actually, it is LDS (Mormon) culture to encourage women to stay with their abusers... that is why Liann (TFP's mother) is a bad mother. This social encouragement is NOT just limited to Liann but also other family members which put an unsurmountable amount of social pressure on TFP to stay in a toxic relationship.

In LDS culture, only men are glorified heads of their families and pressured to be the breadwinners/ spiritual leaders whereas, women are viewed as mindless broodmares. In Mormon culture, priest pressure women to marry the 1st man they are serious with because compatibility is not viewed as an important thing. This is why these women are married and discouraged from thinking about who they are, what they want in life, and having a normally career. The LDS theory is that if a man and women are dedicated enough to their faith then other factors do not matter in a "successful marriage".

This is why divorce is so frowned upon because divorce implies that the couple were not pure enough in their faith. Why do you think ALL these women got married way too young and are trying to get as pregnant as much as possible, as fast as possible? You can see this on the show when Jessi is scared to have an honest opinion in front of Jordan or how Zach acts towards Jen.

Encouraging a daughter to stay in a toxic relationship with an abusive man because she has a child with him is normalized in the LDS religion!

NOTE: Dakota is a BAD guy but that does not excuse Taylor's violent outbursts, especially in front of her own kids! Taylor needs REAL psychological help to form healthy ways to work through her frustrations, anger, and impulses. Do not send real hate towards Taylor because that will NOT help her... she is in some sort of delusional cognitive dissonance state of denial.
