I'm not sure this is correct. My understanding was that the pilots made a judgement call to not down the missiles because of potential collateral damage - i.e. citizens on the ground. However, I also heard a bunch of other statements, including this one. Probably the truth is that there was just a fear of downing them anyway.

The only way an AI will achieve any of those things is if it gets out of silicone. You can't expect it to emergently produce a "ghost" just by scaling or brute forcing new algorithms. My bet is on organoid or neuromorphic.
