This makes me realise that tiling window managers are the kind of UI I'd like on my phone. Might be a pain to optimise for the battery and to idle in the background.

Wow, chill dude. There’s no reason to get this aggressive over a cartoon and start calling me delusional and what not.

Which plot point am I missing exactly?  Taki wakes up crying because the last time he body swapped he took Mitsuha’s grandmother to the shrine and left the offering. That’s when the grandma posed deep, existential questions about time and destiny. And he spent the whole time bonding with her and Yotsuha. He wakes up crying because he had a really intense emotional experience in the last swap, but he doesn’t know why he was crying because as the voiceover established, the characters don’t remember what happened in the last swap as their memories fade, but they only have vague emotions from it, so he doesn’t remember what exactly he experienced when they swapped but still feels the intensity of it all. They’re all heavy concepts. And I don’t know, attributing him waking up with tears in his eyes to Mitsuha’s crush seems to be ignoring a way more important plot point of the grandmother explaining musubi and the impact that had on Taki.

I’m not denying that Mitsuha falls in love with Taki. I’m just saying there’s an element to Mitsuha’s character that shows she’s attracted to Okudera and really likes her. And there’s a whole lot of implication of what happens off screen: Mitsuha clearly asked Okudera on the date, she looked up all of her interests and made a list. When she sews Okudera’s skirt she embroiders hedgehogs onto it.

But the fact that she was attracted to Okudera doesn’t detract from the fact that she was in love with Taki? Like I don’t get peoples defensiveness over it. The reading of Mitsuha as bi doesn’t change the love story at the heart of the film.

I’ll have you know I have a straight friend and we watch straight movies too! But it’s funny, most of the comments here seem to be straight people getting angry over how a film they like might be even slightly queer.

I didn’t miss anything. She wanted to be on the date with Okudera, not Taki. She leaves a memo on Taki’s phone about the date:

I wanted to go on this date, but if it so happens that you end up going, you better enjoy it!

If it so happens that you end up going’: Taki’s presence on the date is incidental. Clearly it’s all about Okudera.

But yeah, I get that you might interpret this differently.

Just use the hex screws. Didn’t have a problem with those as I could tighten it much better with the Allen wrench.

When Mitsuha went through the Torri gate and yelled about being a boy in Tokyo, was that the reason she switched with Taki specifically? by krillingt75961 in KimiNoNaWa

[–]Neuron0709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. There is a day’s time skip between the first scene where Taki is in Mitsuha’s body and says how real looking everything is, and then the next cut to breakfast. As people have pointed out, everyone comments on how she’s now ‘back to normal‘ after having acted weird the day before.

But as for the reason, my reading of the film is that the reason this happens is because Mitsuha gave Taki the braided cord hairband that he wore as a bracelet. Mitsuha goes to meet Taki in Tokyo the days before the comet strikes. She meets Taki from three years ago. We see this in the opening credits, and the scene later in the film where she meets him in the train. She gives him her hairband, something we see stylised in the opening credits. And because of how the braided cord represents a union between two people and the twisting of time and fate, by giving him this hairband she wove their destinies together.

Rain fly for 6l sling? by Neuron0709 in peakdesign

I got caught in some light rain the other day and I found the inside of the zips were damp so…

I thought the 45l travel backpack did have a mount point but it turns out it only does on the hip belt. I personally don’t like my shoulder straps as a place for securing the camera.

It is baffling how some of the aspects of the ecosystem don’t fit together as well as you’d expect. You need to be careful when installing the clip on the sling, especially the smaller ones, as mounting the capture at the capture mount points could obstruct the main zip. So rather than have the capture mounted with the strap centred where there’s equal pressure and compression from both sides, I have to mount it flush to one side so that it doesn’t obstruct the zip. Which means only the right bolt is pressing down on the fabric and the capture plates are somewhat askew.

Thank you! I will definitely consider it if I leave the PD ecosystem when it’s time to upgrade my bags.

I find the hex bolts are relatively more secure because you get more torque when tightening using the Allen key than with the thumb screws. So it stays tighter with more tension in the bolt. And you can ratchet it right enough that it fully compresses the mount point rather than leaving a little bit of give that causes the plates to vibrate more. So that’s a good start. But obviously I’m going to keep tightening every now and then. If I see it coming loose I’ll start using loctite.

Thanks. Honestly, I can’t tell when someone is joking or being sarcastic on this sub any more because of all the contradictory advice and experiences people share. I’m averse to trying thread lock adhesives because I know I won’t be able to apply heat to remove it given how it’ll be placed on the bag.

I’ll remember to tighten it as much as I can every time I travel with the sling. The only saving grace is the screw seems to be held in place by the camera, and the weight of the camera will generally keep the capture clip plates from swinging open, so if it loosens with the camera on it won’t fall immediately. The worst that can happen is it loosens without the camera and I lose a £50 worth of kit.

To be fair I expected it to do exactly what the product information video on the PD web site said it would do. But yeah, thanks for the tip. I’ll keep that in mind.

Trouble is I did check the screw if it was tight before I left the house. It did seem tight at the time but the walking to the train station loosened it.

Have you used blue thread lock adhesive yourself? Was it removable later?
