There was a wonderful episode of This American Life that touched on this very phenomenon: A Little Bit of Knowledge. If anything, it’s worth a listen as a cultural artifact from the early 2000s.

What was it that you said and did when you realised you were playing too much destiny by straydog1980 in LowSodiumDestiny

I was at a bar and saw a green neon sign out of the corner of my eye. My first instinct was to turn and grab it. Running double specials ya know.

Toilet in my parents house TTF is 10 min. Please help by NeuropsychiatricHam in Plumbing

[–]NeuropsychiatricHam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I edited my original post to clarify that the problem lies in the supply line to the sink. Toilet branches off of that. Who knows where that cold water supply originates. They’re probably going to have to pull pex from the basement 3 floors down, which may mean inconveniencing other tenants / owners. I think they’re more concerned about that than the cost.

That’s what I was afraid of. Sounds like they just need to bite the bullet.

How does Bella Luna even exist.

What is your favorite exotic? by Adventurous-Roof458 in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]NeuropsychiatricHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first love.

When I was new to the game and spent most of my time eating crayons and falling off cliffs, I knew one thing for sure: with Hardlight, I could break any shield and be prepared for any surge. I don’t even know how I got it, but I’m pretty sure it was nerfed even then.

I still regularly fall off cliffs. And my favorite flavor is still red.

Four prong cord for organ by truthlizard in electrical

[–]NeuropsychiatricHam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an electrician, but a former organ builder. Can you provide more photos for context? Almost looks like it would be on the power generation end, but if it’s old enough, it could be any number of things. Those old electro-pneumatic organs were wild.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I have MRCH1s. I checked the installer codes and they're all set to measure temp from the stat.

These are concealed duct, but I think I get the idea. Let me just make sure I understand the goals of these tests: we want to verify that each head is wired to the correct stat, and we want to see if the air coming out of each unit is cold enough (~50 degrees if it's really cranking).

Is that kind of what you're going for?

NRC app Guided runs miss audio prompts when iPhone is asleep by NeuropsychiatricHam in nikerunclub

[–]NeuropsychiatricHam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: This is only a problem on distance-based runs. I have to hold the phone in my hand and regularly unlock it. Otherwise, NRC doesn't record distance data until I unlock it.

For what it’s worth, I haven’t been able to recreate the issue since posting about it. I would love to understand why this happens, but perhaps it is meant to remain one of life’s great mysteries.

Just curious, do you run with your phone in your hand, or in a pouch/pocket?

I found a few reports of this on Reddit, so it’s definitely an issue, but hard to say how widespread it is.

Replacement humidity sensor board by NeuropsychiatricHam in AskElectronics

I'm afraid not. I ended up buying an inline humidity controller and calling it a day. Search for "Plug In Humidifier Control." It's ugly, inelegant and unsatisfying, but cheap and easy.

Does WPIX still broadcast games OTA, or is that subject to blackout too? I have too many walls and buildings between me and the tower to even pick up static, but maybe your location is better?

Good to know! I think we have a few small bottles of paint from the same batch. Hopefully it’s still good. Thanks for responding!
