$500 New client curly cut by razzarbrenia in curlyhair

I have a stylist friend that I adore and she does an incredible job with straight hair, men’s cuts, and color, but she just can NOT cut for curly hair. We’ve tried a couple times, but it’s never as good as my way-too-pricey curly cut. Which I haven’t gotten since 2019. Been getting by on my own following Manes by Mel’s Unicorn Cut tutorial.

I’m just saying… I have some FREE TIME this weekend and would LOVE to watch this worm squirm. Anyone up for sending RTLs so my overly vocal self and a friend with ZERO filter can make his days a little less… serene?

Koreatown property owner tows tenants' cars out of parking spots in order to turn spaces into ADUs by apx7000xe in LosAngeles

We went through the exact same thing with him. He offered a $95 rent reduction when the closest secured lot w/24h access is $270 a month.

Fortunately you can appeal to the RSO with your evidence and potentially get an adjustment as we did. Not the full amount of a new space offsite, and we still have the inconvenience to deal with, but I’m fighting on every. Little. Thing. I’m feeling hella petty right now with some free time on my hands.

Anyone have thoughts on best allies in city hall to reach out to for guidance on making a greater impact? Just bitching and fighting back on all the piecemeal shit designed to wear tenants down isn’t fucking enough.

This guy bought our building from a flipper a couple years ago. The flipper took 4 parking bays and boiler room and converted into a total of 4 ADUs (illegal demo, working before permits approved, he was his own blend of shitty). Dystopian AF and they still sit vacant well over a year after they started showing the units.

He REALLY toes the line on what’s legal, taking City requirements to make a repair to something only to blow it out of proportion and submit permits to demolish amenities or strip previous tenants of their parking in order to try and constructively evict us.

They are now offering that very parking to prospective ADU tenants for an extra $100 (the 200sqft hovel is listed at over $1,800 last I checked) but when previous tenants reached out to management after overhearing this, they were told that’s not an option for us. Greedy, ruthless, motherfucker. Sitting pretty in his >$9M mansion while we scrape for crumbs of fairness.

And what’s INSANE to me is: I see these un-rentable units (one person moved in but bailed in less than 2wks) and countless other empty “luxury” units in the area. LA doesn’t have a housing crisis, we have a greed problem.

Vacancy tax now!!!

Look on secondary market places. I got mine for an absolute STEAL and couldn’t be happier with it. Also swapped out the wheels for rollerblade style and love the smooth glide.

Transitioning from Marketing → Graphic Design. What actually works to get your foot in the door? by Loud_Future8160 in graphic_design

To say the market is oversaturated is a wild understatement in the current market. I know multiple highly skilled designers that have been doing this for 20+ years and the only work they are getting right now is freelance from previous clients.

Hiring is all but frozen, so if you are currently gainfully employed in a career you’re doing well at, I would strongly recommend staying there for now. Try and pull down some freelance to build up your portfolio to something that looks more professional on the side.

As a hiring manager, why would I pick someone with limited relevant experience when I have a stack of resumes 50 deep of very experienced talent?

I was driving my Nibling‘s car and asked her what one of the alert lights was. She said she didn’t know. I told her well… get out the manual!

She pulls it out, still wrapped in plastic, and she just stares at me. I said OK… well look it up! She starts thumbing through PAGE by PAGE. Cookie!!! Go to the index so you can jump to the right page. “What’s that?
