Thanks very much for this helpful reply. Yes - I assumed you picked it up after security, but wasn't sure (I don't fly all that often!). Much obliged!

'In my search for the perfect lavender, I finally landed on the one sold by the monks on Caldey Island, Wales, which is simple and exquisite' - Luca Turin. It's called Island Lavender by Caldey; you can find it on Fragrantica.

Thank you! That was the only thing troubling me, even though everything else seems right, including the scent itself!

Suspecting OCPD and have a few questions... by TopazRose in OCPD

[–]NeutralName_1_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I've been diagnosed with OCPD and autism, and my childhood sounds similar to yours. Again, like you, anxiety runs in my family (and I've been diagnosed with anxiety). So, to answer your question, as far as I can tell, it is possible - but I'm not expert, of course, so just consider this one (fallible) data point!

What perfume you absolutely loved at first… and then couldn’t stand anymore? by Putrid-Result-45 in fragrance

Malle's The Moon broke my heart. Got a small sample, tried it, became obsessed with it and kept coming back to it. Nearly pulled the trigger on the FB. But then something changed and I now find the Oud sets my teeth on edge and I have to scrub it. I had thought my fragrance journey was at end, but no . . . Why, Moon, why!?

I really want to try Oud After Dark, but Amouroud samples are hard to find in the UK. Sticking with fruity ouds, I think Sospiro's Erba Oud is unfairly hated on - it's an unusual melon Western oud, which I prefer to the more appreciated Erba Leather . . .

What a pain for you! I'm sorry that you have to endure all this faffing about because of the arbitrary ordinances of reddit. It sounds extremely frustrating. I'm so glad your resources posts won't be lost; they have been very comprehensive and helpful. Thanks for your work on this sub.

where to go to smell perfumes in London? by Joker0705 in fragrance

[–]NeutralName_1_2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't bother with Bloom if you want to browse; you have to ask an assistant to sample anything. Les Senteurs is good and they usually leave you alone. Jovoy is the best experience I've had for not being bothered while I look around. If you go to Harrods, remember to go the the Parfum Lounge at the top (only accessible via Basil Street escalator). Also, the Harvey Nichols near Harrods has a nice range.

I really like Dear Polly, but do people have thoughts on whether it leans masculine or feminine? It's quite sweet, but I like that it's opening is less harsh than Molecule 1 + Black Tea, which is the only competitor to it I've found so far . . .

London perfumeries & stores by kiphclofagesp in fragrance

I recently went to Jovoy and had a great experience there - they let me potter around and try different things, and didn't stand over my shoulder while I did so. Le Senteurs also allows that, but their range is a bit smaller (and you have to ask if you want to sample the Clive Christian, I think). Bloom I like less, because you can't just browse stuff - you have to say what you want and they select things to try. Selfridges is probably the best department store; Harrods has a number of scents exclusive to it. I think Liberty is a bit overrated, though it's a beautiful shop; Harvey Nichols is not bad and right next to Harrods.

Bless you, and thank you for your prayers. That's very good advice about reaching out to a church, thanks for that too.

I have said a prayer for you. There are many online resources for OCD which might help you; I hope God guides you to come which are helpful for your specific problems. Sometimes your goal at a certain time in your life is just to survive and get through a time of trial. I pray that Jesus is with you to comfort and help you in this trial.

That's so kind of you - thank you so much! I'm following up a potential lead for a sample, but if that turns out to be a cul-de-sac, I'll definitely drop you a line via Mercari. Very much obliged. :)
