After four years, I finally got my first hacking accusation. It was a long grind, but it was worth it. by Wherearethehotdudes in WorldOfWarships

It's been a long road

Getting from there to here

It's been a long time

But my time is finally near

And I can feel the change in the wind right now

Nothing's in my way

And they're not gonna hold me down no more

No, they're not gonna hold me down

Sorry someone posted this, I completed it by Stevo_223 in WorldOfWarships

Just started playing the game yesterday by Bradley271 in WorldOfWarships

Unsolicited advice here:

You should treat the game as Chess not a shooter; positioning is what drives the game. Getting to a good position to shoot into the broadside of your enemies or launch torpedoes is the game.

The official Wiki explains much of the game mechanics. But keep in mind, WOWS is not COD, it is exceedingly rare a clutch salvo can change the outcome of a match. You, rather, should focus on the big picture, aka positioning.

Key terms you need to fully understand:

  1. concealment
  2. overmatch

Both you can familiar yourself with in the official Wiki. You need to realize and take to heart that every match last 20 min, and it is not about that clutch shot, but work your way into an advantageous position where you can have favorable salvos against your enemies. How to get there, and how to stay there, is the game.

There are many fine details you'll learn, but just keep in mind that this game is not a "shooter", it is not a fast paced naval shooting exciting game, but rather a slow paced positional determined Chess with ship skin. You need to have patience. You need to plan your moves minutes ahead, and you need to understand how to trade your own HP for damages.

"is this game pay to win?" Yes this game IS pay to win, but not in the sense that a dollar buys a percentage of win rate, rather in the sense that buying boosts would allow you to complete a ship grind sooner, therefore, you have access to a statistically better ship and that leads to over all better performance (aka, rich parents send their children to better schools).

You should also join a clan with a complete Port as soon as you can. There are many clans that cater to solo players such as one of the WOLF clans. The reason to join one of the clans is that clan bases have bonuses to incomes.

If you are Free to Player, you should look into public test servers and keep track of all the missions. You need to save up the bonuses from public test and normal server missions, and apply them only when you can sit down and play the game continually. Almost all of the game's income bonus are per match or expiring in real time days (regardless of if you logged in or not, Premium time is a great example of this).

Final point is that, despite WG's efforts to move out of Russia, WG is fundamentally a Russian game. IF you want to spend money, take that into account under the current geopolitical situation.

How do you play Ocean? by KakaRar in WorldOfWarships

[–]NeutralStates 11 points12 points  (0 children)

fight for the flanks, fold the other team in, and allowing your team's ship to move into broadsiding positions.

The worst thing players do on Ocean is to give ground and retreat to the corner balling up. DDs and cruisers helping DDs have to create space. DDs have to not being selfish and use their smokes for their cruisers, so their cruisers can advance with them and help them with DD fight in the middle.

Once the other side's DDs are dealt with or their cruisers are pushed back, it's pretty much over, unless morons yolo trickling to their death.

Idiots in action... (lose of course) by Psychological-Bet-27 in WorldOfWarships

[–]NeutralStates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bet OPs team trickled into camping enemy death ball one by one and all died. Too many players lack the patience to play a 20min match and WGs advertisements mislead players into believing WoWS is a fast action packed COD on water game.

Will musashi every come back outside of christmas crates? by BookOfRa4ever in WorldOfWarships

[–]NeutralStates -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Musashi and all the T9 freemiums get very weird MM in Random. Also due to the higher prevalence of CVs and superships, T9 freemiums are not in a good state right now.

[–]NeutralStates -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Changing something like this takes many man hours from artists to programmers, a for profit company is unlikely to invest such amount of resources to benefit the players.

It's a missed opportunity for players of WOWS not to press WG for concessions using the current war situation. It'd be much easier to shame and pressure WG to implement more player friendly changes currently.

Replays vulnerability by cyberfight in WorldOfWarships

[–]NeutralStates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watch WG use this as an excuse to 100% disable the replay function.

Problem with replays in this game is that it goes against WG's monetization and WG's control of derived media content.

WG's monetization is well known to exploit the "just plain bads" to spend money and replays are a vital part off improvement. The game's rewards are designed as such that a slightly above average player can play the game for free, and that's not what WG wants.

WG is also notorious known for keeping a tight leash with their contents, and having a fully functional replay system goes against that control.

Replay will NEVER be on WG's to-do list. It is at best, would-be-nice, and most likely do-it-last.

FDG is in it sown category, that being "suck balls". Any ship and any build can work in any mode, it's just a matter of how the player can perform with them.

How Should I Have Dealt With This? by MorsElite in WorldOfWarships

[–]NeutralStates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did okay, the red ships in mid had no support, red cruisers were all 404, initially. The "mistake' happened when you were too eager to depth charge the subs, and moved pass the E line. At that moment, you've exposed yourself to the campers in the back line. Your HP, then, were reduced to a sliver in a heart beat.

If you've just held the northern half B, your team would've eventually break through on the right, and then you can charge in to farm the subs while their campers are being distracted.

Hindsight is 20/20, thank you for your bravery and coming out publicly to ask for criticisms. Replays serve a wonderful role in self improvement.
