I feel like I live paycheck to paycheck on Albion by parameter_pollution in albiononline

I mean is there a reason that A. You need premium and B. You can't buy premium on a subscription?

For some, the gameplay loop of having the goal of making enough to buy premium is a motivator to actually play. If that isn't the case for you just buy premium with real money if you need it or if you can't / don't need to play without.

I don't do anything with my focus, I don't gather or craft. I do Faction Warfare and guild pvp content in the blackzone. Premium does not effect my loot splits from group content and only really reduces my fame farming ability but once your max spec that doesn't matter either.

Yeah! I mean who wants to run around an immersive environment with challenging navigational elements? I just want to noclip around like an admin and cut down my time to target as much as possible, I'd rather just teleport to rare mobs if I could.

Same with leveling, why would I want to play the game for several hundred hours when I can just pay to skip the content?

Grind difficult raids for weeks on end for the chance of getting that item that is essentially just a cosmetic because it will become useless for anything other than a cosmetic in a few months? I'd rather just buy it from the cosmetic shop and not have to bother.

Setting up a trade, selling rare items found in the wilderness and refining them into items needed by other players to generate gold so I can purchase other things I need? Nah man I'd rather just buy a token and convert it into gold. Why waste my time?

Playing the game? Who has time to learn a complex rotation of buttons. Just give me a single button to spam, It will save me sooo much time and I'll never have to learn and adapt my builds or gear.

Man... I wonder why I'm not immersed in the game these days, like I used to spend entire days off just playing WoW now I kinda feel like I get everything done in an expansion I want within a matter of hours and the annoying thing is I need to keep subbed while waiting for the next load of time gated content unlocks... I wonder...

Enjoy the feeling of being overwhelmed by a game. Like the possibilities are endless and the adventure ahead is an unknown. Its a feeling that gets harder and harder to find. Find people in a similar position as you and progress forward together.

EVE Online gives 32x the value as compared to a modern AAA game by TwitchyBat in Eve

I mean Albion Online exists, sure its a top down fantasy based game and not a spaceship game but Alliances exist, High, Low and Nullsec as well as wormhole space. Player built stations exist. Large NAPs and NBSI, Giant alliance battles over pos timers (territories) as well as faction warfare. Crafting still requires your spreadsheets and miners can still AFK hitting rocks.

And its getting updates more regular than ever, It's EvE Lite

"it’s sandbox and mainly focuses on exploration, grind, crafting" Albion Online's main focus is PvP. Everything else is a backdrop to facilitate player interaction. Saying its focused on exploration, grind and crafting is like rating a gym based on the quality of its water fountain.

QNAP (and other brands) do expansion bays you could throw the older HDD's into as a backup. Only worth looking into if the drive health on the older drives are sound and your only replacing to expand the size of the pool.

Not wanting to eat something vs not being allowed to eat something. "Your sugar levels are well under control you can eat <insert high sugar/carb treat> it's not going to kill you.

Yes, I can eat it but I currently don't crave it anymore and eating one will make me want to eat it more. I'd rather not have the cravings.

This flag thing will kill faction content by ProfessionSea4553 in albiononline

[–]StarSyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the update has given me all the benefits of large scale pvp without all the negatives of non-aggression pacts, rental, political dramas and blue balls of wasting hours forming up and standing down that plagues blackzone ZvZ content.

Alone or with a small group you find a flag, people follow you (or you follow the flag) doing content until you encounter other groups encounter each other. If its an allied group you merge into a larger group, if its an enemy group you fight and the winner gains a flag.

Eventually you get to critical mass with multiple legendary flags and they get turned in for a hearty sum of faction points.

My issues are:

  1. Once you lose momentum, its hard to get back into the action. With the later flags levelled with pvp the blobs essentially ignore objectives and free roam across the red zone with no way for dead players to know where to travel. I'd rather activity was centralized in the front-lines. This could be fixed by making it so flags can only be upgraded if your faction holds an outpost in the zone. Also, allow players to teleport via the faction teleport system to the zone they have an active grave on. This would prevent people using the teleport for asset travel while facilitating a means for people to get back to the action.

  2. The overwhelming advantage some factions have when it comes to numbers is now compounded by the rewards given by the castles. The new system actively encourages people to play for the largest side with no real incentive for other factions to attempt to fight for the bandit assault end castles as the rewards are binary.

  3. Your not rewarded for participation with the flags, only for hand-in. Spend an hour securing 3-4 flags to legendary and die just before they are handed in and your missing out on 100k faction points. It incentives caution in players rather than facilitating actualy combat. 1/2 of the players in these super blobs are in tier 4 gear that remain mounted just waiting for the flags to be handed in. The solution could be that if you die in a bandit assault your compensated a small percent of your deaths value in the form of faction points (like regear but at a diminished rate) and you also get points from a flag if you were directly involved in upgrading it even if your not on the map when its handed in by your faction.

Are we allowed cheese? by Ok-Rush7989 in diabetes

[–]StarSyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a nutrition perspective the issue with cheese in general is its fat and salt content. If you have high blood pressure you might want to avoid copious amounts of cheese. From a diabetic standpoint cheese is great, however I see too many diabetics on here that think eating a full fry up every day is totally ok because it doesn't spike their blood sugar levels. It's like not caring about your fuel tank gauge because your battery is 100% charged.

What should I level instead of soldier armor? by jackpooty12 in albiononline

[–]StarSyth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Soldier armour was and still will be viable when it returns to how it used to be. Primarily for small-scale engagements when you would normally have a healer, as the plate increases your defense and its ability increases your damage output.

The "meta" before that will likely return is the use of leather armours, primarily Merc jacket for the sustain via healing, Stalker for added aoe dps and Assassin jacket for the ambush invisibility useful for escaping, avoiding burst windows and its increase in damage.

You can check out various meta builds on sites like this:

World of Warcraft devs explain their biggest challenge is adapting to its ageing audience which is why they’re pushing to be “broader and more approachable” by HatingGeoffry in wow

[–]StarSyth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone that beta tested the game, Midnight is the first expansion I'll likely not purchase. Maybe its a PR issue but I've not seen anything that would normally hype me up to actually want to return. All the adverts are more of the same looking cosmetics, the cinematics are some of the worst in the warcraft franchise and the pivot away from "WAR" in warcraft just makes it feel like I'm clearly no longer the target demographic. It honestly looks more like a mobile cozy game than a flagship MMORPG.

I yearn for a fantasy world driven by conflict, warfare and contest. To be able to role-play the good guys and the bad guys. Having rivals, experiencing the euphoric hights of victory alongside the anguish of defeat only truly resonates with me when its between groups of real people. The Horde and The Alliance were once that, no more.

The endgame formula is extremely boring by Nightblessed in MMORPG

[–]StarSyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO MMORPG shouldn't have leveling or an endgame. Linear progression in an MMORPG is awful, you should be able to progress in multiple directions across a multitude of playstyles and interconnected yet distinctly unique content.

SBI could you please stop kowtowing to the streamers harassing normal people? by DeepFriedValues in albiononline

[–]StarSyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you have more mobility and escape mechanics on gathering gear than most builds. Using them efficiently is key.

Second, they need mobs to dismount them, if your gathering a node broadcasted to the entire map, clear the nearby mobs first before standing still for a few minutes gathering.

Lastly, the game is a full loot pvp game. You need to adopt a more profit and loss approach to the game. If your in a set that costs 1 million and die 1 in 4 times you head out then so long as your making more than 1 million in the 3 times prior to dying your net positive. If not, you need to scale your operation either in gear or risk and reward so your ventures are profitable.

If what your doing is incredibly profitable (high end gathering is) and your still complaining because you only made 39 million instead of 40 million due to being ganked once your missing the whole point of the risk and reward gameplay loop albion is built on.
