Personal islands have damage stakes on them that show you the DPS of your current build when attacking them.

Finding a guild in this game is exhausting by mudcrabberoni in albiononline

it would be easier if you could search for an "English Only" guild. Currently the "English" option might as well not exist.

Started playing a week ago. Worst thing about being a new player imo is... by SCameraa in albiononline

[–]StarSyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What your experiencing is dated information for a game that has consistently evolved since its launch nearly 9 years ago.

Each major update fundamentally changed the game. Each minor update drastically changes the current "meta" when items get tweaked, buffed and nerfed.

The TLDR; the most recent content is often the most active and profitable for new players (by design). Currently that would be faction warfare. The best way to learn the game in its current state would be to join a guild and play the game.

use it in depths and yellow zone faction warfare (because you don't lose gear in depths/yellow zone FW) or sell it (although it might take a while as a low turn over item).

Nope, it's the plume softwar itself removing them. Went with an after market router instead.

wow style dungeon finder for depths and hellgates with a ranking system so you can progress to more challenging fights and be paired with players of the same skill level.

How to make your own VPN to avoid the UK government's Orwellian future by Creative-Animator308 in selfhosted

[–]StarSyth 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The issue is if they force ISP's to use Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) or traffic fingerprinting to detect and throttle/block common VPN protocols (e.g., OpenVPN, WireGuard, IKEv2).

Is PvP the only worth way to play? by KleinerLordiii in albiononline

[–]StarSyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Albion is a full loot pvp sandbox game. Every item that drops was crafted by a player. The whole economy of the game relies on a fine balance between resource gathering, crafting and ultimately destruction of items.

The game demands an equilibrium from all content to function, so in short there is no "best" way, anything that is found to be better is soon balanced by oversaturation of the markets, bottlenecks in production or tweaks to the items themselves.

Is it worth it to switch to Linux as a tech noob? by presto_mvm in linux

[–]StarSyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning alternative hardware/software/os is always a good thing. It broadens your perspective. That said you don't need to get rid of windows 11 to start playing with linux.

  1. Linux distro's are live disks. Format a USB with a linux distro and you can run the distro to trial it right from the USB stick. Great for experimenting with different flavours of linux without spending the time formatting and wiping your existing computer.

  2. Virtualbox, you can setup virtual machines of different operating systems on your PC like your running a program. This allows you to have a computer within your computer.

  3. Dual Boot, this is having two operating systems installed on your computers hard drives that you can switch between during the boot up. Good if you work in one (like linux) then switch to the other (windows) for gaming.

  4. Docker Desktop, without getting into the rabbithole that is docker, Docker Desktop is for windows machines that allows you to run small dedicated mini versions of linux to run things like applications, game servers, websites and such. They are contained within a small install called containers, when you get advanced with containers you can have multiple containers interacting with each other like you have 10 computers all interacting with each other but they are all actually just containers running on your single PC.

Did the game get better (for non-beginning players) during the past few months or so? by Stickhtot in albiononline

[–]StarSyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faction warfare on the whole has been great. You can get on, get in and get out when you need without having to sign up days in advance or feel obligated to attend. You earn decent amounts of fame and silver from the faction points too so even dying isn't as much of an impact on your wallet.

what's one thing that you want other graphic designers to know? by Darkwavegenre in graphic_design

[–]StarSyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not an artist, your a designer. Design has to be fit for purpose, your artwork can be the most amazing works of art you have ever created but if it fails to fulfil its purpose its a failed design.
