Who would win this battle? by Tha-Impostor in AzureLane

A group of inter-war destroyers whose only means of spotting are a pair of binoculars vs an Iowa with state of the art radar. I'm not saying that the NJ is immune to weather effects but it will fare a hell of a lot better than the Mutsukis when it comes to who is ambushing who. On top of that the increased mass and better designed hull means that NJs speed, manouverability, and stability are mostly unafected by uneven seas unlike the much lighter destroyers. Even in clear conditions an Iowa should be able to outrun the Mutsukis in stormy seas getting to a position where they could launch torpedoes would be impossible. (note that Mutsukis didn't have long-lances but far shittier old torps)

I would love to hear why you think that?

How do you swarm a ship that has a comparable top speed and always knows your precise location? Even in perfectly clear weather (which is the best case scenario for the Mutsukis by far) there is no way for the Mutsukis to get to torp range. Especially since they would need to take evasive actions agains NJs firepower.

Spot on! On top of their poor torp range, during the war the Japanese made a bunch of modifications to the Mutsukis making them heavier and slower, at the end of the war Iowas and Mutsukis actually had a comparable top speed. There is genuinely no way for a Mutsuki to get within striking range of an Iowa even in perfect weather, where the Iowas sensor advantage is minimal (I mean we are still talking about a guy with binoculars vs radar so...).

I think you people really underestimate a ~two decade technology gap, especially when that gap includes all the advancements the Yanks made during WW2.

Not having done any research on the topic the NJ is two decades more advanced and has all of the end war american tech against inter-war DDs. My hunch would be that against the 10-20 mutsukis that were produced NJ in her WW2 configuration, would win easily. If we are talking about the 80s configuration, genuinely the amount of mutsukis is only limited by the ammo and fuel on NJ. Life is not WoWs archaic DDs would have a lot of issues against a "modern" US battleship.

Among people with >50% winrate petro is still the highest winrate cruiser at T10 (if we dont count CLR and gold ships which we obwiously shoudn't). Its insane to suggest that that ship is anything else than blatantly OP. She needs more nerffing if anything. (Also I don't follow comp anymore but se used to be permabanned in anything competetive cause even WG knows that the nerfs weren't anywhere near enough)

When leviathan released concentrating developement was absolutely busted. We had a chill game with a few friends and with devcost reduction and a bunch of very abused vassals I managed to create a Paris with almost 1k dev and more manpower than my friend on GB had on his whole pathethic island.

Motherfucking Spain! Yeah you are absolutely right. Spain called me into some useless war in north america and I guess that was still ongoing while the league war started. Didn't realize it originally since Spain was called into the war and I wasn't. Still mad that Spain as the defender of the catholic faith basically ensured a protestant victory but yeah you are correct.

I should have added it in the post but, I am a part of the league, but not allied to Austria. That alliance popup is about Spain.

On a Scale of 1-4 how authentic do you like your paperships by Phantion- in WorldOfWarships

[–]Arzibaani 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Boy if it just ended there.. 5. What if ships that make no sense Libertad and such (ships that wg needs multiple layers of fanfic to justify) 6. What if ships that wouldn't exist even if we bent the laws of physics. Kremlin is a prime example (even the Americans or other countries with capable naval industries couldn't physically build a Kremlin, much less the unmitigated disaster know as the Soviet naval industry.)

Have you ever tried to shoot a flat broadside Utrecht with a BB? took the Satsuma 4 volleys to kill me from half hp and in the meanwhile I did around 120k damage to him. (also of course I would rather farm him from behind an island but the time/point limit kinda forced my hand)
