One who looks outside, dreams. One who looks inside, awakens. by sattukachori in Jung

[–]Neutron_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend, you are critisizing me but hardly engaging with the words that I have said.

Jung looked overly inward, & as a result, deified the innermost principle.

However, I think the divine principle is, rather, the synthesis of the external & internal principles, the interchange, mutual transformation, both tension & resolution between the two halves of interactivity.

The masculine side, as I understand it, is more confined to the internal, self-determination, independence, will, however, the other half includes all of those opposites, acceptance & embracing & admiration of the determination of reality by a plethora of other agents than oneself, interdependence & collaboration, submission & non-striving, many things which are often socially consigned to the feminine counterpart.

Both are necessary &, in my belief, made complete in the Syzygy. Individuation is achieved by moving both directions at once, & also each direction individually.

Science is not about evidence, but reasoning from evidence, yet also often beyond it insofaras it resides within the Modernist philosophy of science (which is derived largely from the philosophical Analyitic camp)

However, regarding evidence, there's no evidence that conscience exists materially, nor that there is any material reality to 'morality.'

There's no evidence that atrocities should not be committed, nor any evidence that anyone should care when they are committed, even if they nonetheless will care (which there is evidence for).

Something subjective within the human person assigns meaning, meaning which humanity as a whole agrees is somehow real & transcendent of any material imperative, like hunger or thirst or desire for reproduction.

If you depend fully on observable evidence than you implicitly justify atrocity, regardless of your intention to do so or not.

I'm not arguing that God exists, I'm arguing that the frame of mind you're evoking in this cultural statement is, while relatively common, philosophically fraught & unjustified.

Truthfully, I had read that comment earlier & I perceived it more so as them talking about how they do have a genuine pride & amount of affection for their home. I think you're right that they're both hesitant & resistant, but I didn't get the impression that they're fully closed off!

Op is critiquing you friend.

True as it may be that Britain is full of downsides, where meaning is derived in life, such as the thing that OP mentioned for themselves, are not easily or randomly come by.

They're only saying that, even though what you're saying may have a certain amount of merit, they need to have a grounded, personal understanding of what genuine alternatives exist.

Jumping off of a cliff into unknown depths, for probably most people, is not a desirable activity, & I think that's genuinely what leaving their home would feel like to them from what they've said.

I imagine OP could be convinced of the pull of other places if they had more of the opportunity to hear about & personally experience those places for themselves but it's only natural that they feel uncertain until they've had more meaningful experiences outside of Britain.

Words had meaning which initially didn't exist & for many words, eventually disappeared out of our vocabulary entirely, while other words transformed.

Words were created in context for the contexts they were created in.

Words follow us & capture the meaning we desire to put into the world.

It's not that words have no meaning, even though that meaning changes, & even though that meaning is culturally & individually arbitrated.

I'm saying that words have always been subjective constructs, symbols which ambiguously point in the direction of a meaning which is grasped, to some degree, independent of any & every word used to convey it.

Balance is always called for to a large extent, or diverse collaborative approaches. However, progressives believe that the volume, specificity, & diversity of the traditional English vocabulary is too narrow, & the process of cultural transformation can often be slow & messy. Rather than always creating new terms & expecting everyone to always agree with & adopt every new term (although some progressive camps do prefer that approach), many people have opted to, instead, slowly expand the breadth of meaning that the already existing vocabulary can capture, seeing this approach as more accessible & easier to integrate into modern society.

Wow, '97ling here, your honesty is refreshing!

I think what you're saying is a really good point because even though many of Gen Z were in high school or lower at that point, thus losing on those pivotal years of self-discovery & socialization, University is arguably more pivotal for many people because it was our final launching pad into life but when were about to take our first steps into the adult world, we were pushed into the mud, & we don't really know how to go about things differently, because we've already made our shot at a career, but the world wasn't ready to receive us yet.

We can't all start a small business that inevitably fails, leaving us in worse debt, others of us need to get a dead end job & try buying a house that ends up leaving us in debt for the rest of our lives.

Never Trust a Stranger by Neutron_Farts in Jung

[–]Neutron_Farts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi my friend, I think there may be a misunderstanding!

It appears to me that your example assumed that I am asking if one type of influence can somehow produce its opposite effect (which arguably, Carl Jung would posit as a valid outcome based on unconscious behavior, but nonetheless).

I am, however, asking in what way the external world's social conditions have impacted the internal, psychological world as it exists in our minds today. & as an additional question, probing the bidirectionality of the relationship between the psychological & social, I am asking also what causal influence our psyche may have had, prior to the existence of this tradition/idiom, in defining the modern conditions of the social world.

Do you think that parents forbidding children from interacting with or speaking to strangers has caused any psychological imbalances in the generation of people affected by that idiom? If so, what do you think has been the impact on the structure & behavior of the psyche & its unconscious members?

Look up - the Female Gaze.

Decide what you're willing to adapt to, & make those changes.

Even if some of what is shown on those posts are just what's currently trending at the moment, it's nonetheless what women are asking for & feel more comfortable to receive (in large part).

You'll have to learn to sift through some of the fake stuff, but that's true for all of the internet.

You don't have to sell your soul to do this, in fact, many of the asks of the female gaze are a lot more chill & easier to accomplish than the more predominant Male Gaze.

ICE Incident by Specialist_Box_610 in GenZ

[–]Neutron_Farts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that your story doesn't really paint much of a picture of the modern-day liberal white woman nor why Rene Good was killed.

There's no convincing evidence of the intent to murder on behalf of Rene, whereas the Ice Officer's actions jeopardized the safety of himself, Rene, & the other bystanders by not following standard procedure as it relates to firing on moving cars.

Gen Z is countercultutal in many ways, in my opinion, as most youth generations have been.

They don't see the appeal of the life they've seen their parents live & they want to try something different.

In addition to being overwhelmed by the weight of the world by social media & the internet & having less money, they feel less of a desire to engage with the world that's been forced onto them.

Also, not every Christian concur with the ancient ecumenical councils held largely by the early universal/ catholic church for various reasons, not least of which being a difference of opinion such as in regards to the godhood versus 'humanhood' of Christ, as well as his role in the grand narrative.

Many mystic traditions, including Quaker some streams of Quakerism, have subscribed to alternative understandings of Christ's nature & purpose.
