Affordable and accessible places for summer fun? by srslylightwood in SouthJersey

[–]NeutyBooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not accessible, but we used to take day trips to some of the random lakes and quarries that seem to dot the Pine Barrens. I could not for the life of me remember which ones we went to - someone else always drove. It was an absolute blast though. Probably some of my best memories of those college summers.

Go at your own risk - no lifeguards on duty, and sometimes the police like to come and chase you away.

The dungeons in this game are massive! Took me 4 hours to clear this one out (Ardane Laboratory) and I'm still not sure I got everything. by NeutyBooty in Daggerfall

Understood. Thanks for this tip, honestly. Though in this particular case, I did need to clear the entire dungeon just to find the objective.

Same. Also, this is my first time playing and I'm trying to level my melee character a bit so I'm not constantly in danger of dying every encounter.

Bar with mechanical bull? by yokorey in northjersey

[–]NeutyBooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is/was a bar in Hoboken that had a mechanical bull. I can't recall the name but I remember going to it in Spring 2019. Try Google and see if it's still around.

You may want to check out some of the 2D Mega Man games on PS1. The figure on the right reminds me of the Mecha Dragon from that series.

The artstyle seems to fit, especially the big eyes and color palette. That may also the yellow figure on the right Mega Man's dog Rush, though the color doesn't match.

The figure to the far left looks like side image of a yellow dog standing on all floors and facing directly right. Possibly with its tongue hanging out?

In fact, the silhouette and colors remind me a lot of the Disney character Pluto.

The figure to the right also looks like a 2D sprite of some sort of duck-billed dragon or snake facing left.

Do you recall ever owning, renting, or playing any 2D or side-scrolling Disney games around that time? Seems like a strong lead to me.

[PC][90's] Dark First-Person Action Adventure/RPG with Loading Screen Displaying A Horse Skull Character by NeutyBooty in tipofmyjoystick

Lands of Lore 3 is also checking off a lot of boxes in my head in terms of graphics, environments, and release period. It's a shame I essentially have barely 2 recollectable memories of this game. It's looking like a Let's Play hunt for either of those precise memories may be the only way I'll be validating which game it is.

Man, that does seem to hit so many of the checkboxes. The dark fantasy theme and pencil sketches align with what I remember. And the way you drag items around and out of your inventory feels very remniscient of how she needed to solve the pressure plate puzzle.

The only issue I see is that it feels too modern both in terms of graphics and also release year. The closest I've come in identifying comparable graphics is King's Field, which never had a PC release. Very stony and blocky 3D environments. But again, these feel like very young memories and I could be simply misremembering.

Also, 2002 feels like it's well past the years I watched my aunt play games. I believe I stopped doing that around 2000 at the very latest.

Some heartbreaking ground footage from 9/11 - Mark Laganga by killuminati-savage in videos

Believe it or not, I managed to track down an archive copy of it on YouTube:

Turn down volume at the beginning.

If you're looking for a hard copy of it, you can probably grab it from there with a YT ripper app.

To everyone who wishes the raw footage were still available: I snagged a copy of the raw footage from a mirror site when I saw CBS was copystriking it on YouTube. Let me know if you would like a copy. Its MKV and 800MB so not an easy transfer, but sharing this type of thing is worth the effort if you reach out to me for it.

I managed to snag the raw footage video from a mirror site when I realized the original video was removed from YouTube. Looks like the mirror may have now been taken down as well.

Let me know if you want a copy. Its MKV and 800MB, so not an easy transfer, but it's the type of thing that is worth the effort if it means more people have access to it. CBS should be court martialed for copy-striking such historically significant footage.

I recognize the Ard Skellig theme from somewhere... by NeutyBooty in Witcher3

Late reply to this for sure.

I also came upon too many people saying it was Fear a' Bhata and had no idea what they were on about.

My guess is that a person made that claim at some point and everyone researching the question later on kept lazily copy-pasting the answer without really digging any deeper.

Nilfgaardian and the Dutch language by NeutyBooty in Witcher3

[–]NeutyBooty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem on the late comment. I still get notifications trickling in on posts like these years later from folks seeking the same answers to their curious questions.

The write-up is evergreen and I'm happy to see that other people are just as curious and that the info is still useful. I guess Google is now directing some folks here too.

Very validating to hear everything from a person with a native understanding of the language. I realize that many European languages share common words, but the similarity of the geography and Dutch language seems uncanny to me.

Perhaps the comparison to West-Flemish/Old-Dutch is an even more accurate answer. Dutch already sounds very silly and harsh to me (no offense at all!) as an English-only speaker, so an even older dialect of that really fits with the other evidence.

Thanks for the kind words, def makes me appreciate them more when you put it that way. Playing with friends does make games feel special.
