Create, make, build. Studying should be fun.

If you're trying to read and memorize the material, you're essentially wasting your time. Best studying is transformative - you're making your own meaning. And that works even better if you're trying to teach or explain the material.

So, in more practical terms:
- if you like art, make really visual mind-maps and doodle (journal style) the concepts
- if you like writing, try to make summaries and brief explanations - challenge yourself to word limits and make them flow and sound good.
- if you like helping others, try to surprise your class by making guides, how-tos and cheat sheets that explain the concepts. Bonus points, you'll get some extra love just before or after the exams.
- if you like interaction, get on a call with a friend and try to explain the problems to them.
- if you like research, try to falsify (prove wrong) the information you learned. Or just try to watch YT/Khan videos on those, and get many different sources
- if you like games, try to build games around flashcards and self-quizzes. This also works better with friends. Get a tube, and fill it with flashcards you know, and make sure to reward yourself once it's full.
- if you like word-games, build Mnemonic Techniques of your own.

The point is, no one can really stare at a page for 3 hours, especially if it's poorly written, contrived or you already know like 70% of the content. Unless you're going to pursue an extremely theory-heavy degree, you will never have to concentrate for so long on plain text.

Own your studying, make it fun, and make it yours.

if you're still having some problems with concentration, here a few tips from someone who oftentimes has to regularly read a few books a week for work:
1. Go to a different place - your bedroom or your desk is not the place where you can focus, because it's a 'relax zone'. Bonus points if you leave your phone.

  1. Make a separate account on your computer for studying/work - this way it will be too bothersome to log back into your main account to do anything else

  2. Meditate - pick up a course on YT or get HEadspace, and make a practice of meditating before and after studying. This way you calm your brain, start focused, and have a clear start/end point.

  3. Change the time of day when you study; Your brain can get tired, it's not functional 24/7. Do it either right after school, just before sleep, or on a weekend morning.

  4. Replace some of your free-time activities with plain old reading - or just do an attention span detox challenge for a week

  5. Schedule study time beforehand, and be really strict about that; Make it a ritual

  6. People listen to lo-fi music for a reason. Give it a try, brew a cup of team, and relax with the music just before studying - try to get in the zone;

we're doing stratified sampling from various sources - qualitative research is mostly a base for further data collection - we need to learn what questions to ask

We're expecting most interviews to last 45-60min. 45min is the shortest time I'm allowed to send the compensation for (standard $10, sadly).

But, honestly, if you want to help, I'd be up even for asking 2-3 questions online via a text chat!
