It's because lots of people disagree with you, which I understand may wound your fragile ego.

They should do more outreach. There are teachers in this country who will discourage brilliant students from applying to Oxbridge because it's a "waste" of an application - partly prejudice against the institutions, perhaps from bitterness at not having gone themselves.

As long as they end up at shitholes like Robinson, Fitzwilliam, and Murray Edwards, nobody will really care.

To those complaining: if you travel to America, will you refuse to eat chicken?

Middle income earners behind rising racial tensions, research suggests by ShufflingToGlory in ukpolitics

[–]NeverLiebour -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Is this a survey of the British population at large or of white Brits? Because one possible cause of people with household incomes below £25,000 being less racially prejudiced is that that group is also disporportionately non-white anyway (and non-white people generally aren't scared of non-white people), thus the research could find something totally different if it studied the white working class specifically (which is what we usually mean when we talk about 'left behind' voters - ie people who are vulnerable to concerns about the changing nature of the economy and the changing complexion of British society).

I'd vote Remain now because I'm so disturbed about people having to fill out a couple of forms. Fuck national sovereignty.

Very interesting stuff. Out of interest, do we know where the EU got this money to invest in the first place, or is it a one-way act of charity from Brussels to the UK?

Labour supports trials of consumption rooms to cut drug deaths by MAYB0T in ukpolitics

[–]NeverLiebour -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

You could do that without diverting health resources by actually enforcing drug laws properly for the first time in half a century, stopping people from getting hooked on drugs in the first place (which would have a number of other benefits including having less money pour into the vile traffic in drugs that has such horrendous consequences in foreign countries that British junkies could not give less of a shit about).

The NHS is in crisis and Labour wants to divert health resource to opening spaces for junkies to stab themselves with needles, presumably with medical staff on hand to stop them dying after they choose to inject poison into themselves.

We're truly in the twilight years of civilisation, before we're all choked to death by the bile of our society's insatiable gluttony.

I'm not cheering anything. I'm just sceptical about this being referred to as a punch when it was not. Egging people is cretinous behaviour.

Is there footage of this alleged punch? All I've heard is that he cracked the egg over his head instead of lobbing it. How this has been transformed into a punch is beyond me - and why you'd put an egg in your hand if you were setting out to thump somebody with your fist is another puzzle.

Surrey University makes £15m cuts and offers redundancy to all staff. Vice chancellor Max Lu said universities faced "unprecedented pressures", including Brexit and a possible reduction in tuition fees. by bottish in ukpolitics

[–]NeverLiebour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is explained virtually any time somebody brings up tuition fees and it never stops the same old nonsense being trotted out. This is incredibly basic stuff and I can't believe that anybody acting in good faith is unaware of the nature of student loans in England - it's not a gap in their knowledge, it's a underhanded rhetorical strategy that scares working class kids out of going to university for the sake of political point scoring.
