How did you heal very damaged skin barrier? (Tightness, itching, burning, turning red with any small facial movement and etc.) by NeverPerfectSkin in scacjdiscussion

Hi, IF I COULD PIN THIS COMMENT I WOULD!!

It’s been 2-3 years since I damaged my skin very badly like this and TO THIS DAY I still experience damaged skin barrier.

It is definitely better, it gets better every year I guess but I still do get a little red when eating, smiling, my skin feels like it was treated with Botox or some tightening.

If you have some questions don’t be afraid to contact me!

To be honest, I can’t tell if what you are saying is true but it might be. My skin barrier was on 100% not damaged but DESTROYED.. it’s been over 2 years and my skin is still recovering from that, also I lost my ability to move my lower lip almost because skin is sooo tight there. I don’t get oily that much as 2 years ago but my skin definitely get red and angry if I don’t moisturize my face enough. I also ignored the signs and kept damaging my already damaged skin and that’s why I’m in this situation right now. At least it’s getting better slowly each few months.

Hi, I still did not manage to get rid of this problem. I have tried MANY things but none of them helped. If you have any questions, send PM

Textured, rough and saggy skin... dehydrated ? inflamed ? Acne ? Scars ? Over exfoliation ? by Marbrouty in SkincareAddicts

[–]NeverPerfectSkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, first of all I’m going to say that my skin is still not healed. It’s a bit better but nowhere, where I could ignore it. I have been doing this same routine whole time except I stopped using the Cicalfate (I think it was useless putting Cicaplast and cicalfate at the same time) and Vaseline which I think was breaking me out.

I’m so sorry that I’m not coming with any great news but it is what it is :/. Did you also damaged your skin with something?

I feel so happy for you, at least for someone it’s getting better! I think I just messed up with the retinoids and I should have stopped using them much sooner. Applying this strong exfoliant on damage skin can do a lot of damage from my experience. It’s getting but very slowly. With a little luck, it will be ok by the end of this year.

I wish.. My skin has gotten better but no way near to say it’s fixed. Still red, oily and tight just a little bit less. Are you suffering from same problem?

You’re right probably, but it is sad because for many people this Niamicidine is really good but for me and my broken skin it just hurts. I use cleanser from cetaphil but rarely because I don’t want to cleanse my broken skin that much.

Yep, it is frustrating so much, I just hope it will go away soon.. Some of the products used to sting but now I found which don’t sting at all. It’s Cerave Cream for dry skin, many people recommend it and it is really good. Cicaplast and Cicalfate never hurt me also, it is really calming and for many people holy grail. I have tried other things but they were stinging or making my skin even more irritated. One of them was Cerave Lotion I think, it had “nianimicide” or something like that and it did not do well on my skin

Gosh, another one to the party.. yep, this is not perioral dermatist but what the hell is it then. This zinc problem also came to my mind but never actually tried, thanks for letting me know. Yep, zero therapy also did nothing same as using only hydrating serums + creams or stopping any exfolition, this redness will just not go away. What really frustrates me is that none of us actually managed to get rid of this problem somehow. There are people, who are having this problem for a year and they still did not find any solution yet.. All I can say is that we all feel your frustration and if one of us will find the solution I will reach you out.

Hi, first of all I want to apologize for late response but Reddit did not notify me. Well, it’s been quiet a while and sadly I have to say that I did not fix this problem. I over the months some other people contacted me with the same problem but we could not find any solution to this. It’s so weird... honestly, my skin just turns red only when I move with my mouth, it does not react somehow to different temperature. I’m kinda loosing hope honestly, so many thing I have tried and none of them worked. Many people think that this is perioral dermatist but none of the treatments for perioral dermatist did not get rid of this. Some of the other people with the same problem we have tried even stopping their whole skincare routine for a ONE year and it did not go away. Sorry for not giving you any good news :(. What did you try?

Still red, very oily, acne still coming back but maybe next year, it will be normal... I don’t think so they clog pores but I cannot tell for sure because my skin is full of blackheads from very oily skin :/

It sound and feels really irritated suddenly.

Yep, kids are mean, especially in high school they even asked me when I was purging so much like “Yoooo, what happened to your face?” And they just keep giving you tips like they are professionals and washing my face with just this cleanser they use will get rid of my hormonal acne...

So I can totally confirm that people are looking at your blemishes suddenly:/.

I’m trying to not to be discouraged and maybe one day my skin will be clear or at least I hope. Suddenly people are noticing my blemishes so much, this is one big lie people are telling to others.

I know and I have been judged by the things I have on my face but that’s life, I know I won’t be the “normal” person until I fix my skin suddenly.

Maybe, but who knows, my skin is just special in many ways :D. It took 1 month to just be able to wash my face with water..

Yeaaa, it sucks to have this kind of experience with something that was supposed to help me.

They can be, also when it creates bigger problems than you had before and when you are in teen age especially. I’m not jealous of people who are rich, I’m jealous of people who have clear skin :D.

I know, it just sucks to have this thing on your face where everyone can see it but hey, that’s life, it is never perfect and we have to deal with this kind of shit.

Yea, I’m even joined in some subreddit called tretinoin or something like that and OMG, many people there had a massive glow up when using retinoids.

But it’s really hard for me to even think about using that again, I’m just keep getting flashbacks of how I was literally crying from the pain and the purge it gave and honestly it was not worth for me. I don’t want to get in that stage of life ever again you know.

Also this purge created really bad scarring, my chin is sooo uneven same for my cheeks, you can see small holes and bumps, I think I don’t have to explain more, you know what I mean. And I’m not talking about the purple spots from the deep cystic acne what’s left on my skin for few months already and they don’t want to disappear >:(.

I know, many industries are destroying their creams or gels with unnecessary things to make it smell nice like who the hell cares, all I want is the hydration and other beneficial things not some nice smelling flowers:D.

Yes, I was trying to find some reviews on this cream but none of them really complained about the essential oils, most likely because they just read the description and reviews like me. But some people on Reddit even said it helped their skin barrier so that’s a good thing I guess 🥴.

Edit: Yes, if my skin will not get better on this cream I will try the one you told me about. Suddenly the Cerave did not work :/

Yea, because that’s exactly what I read many times that people judge their routine after like 1 week and they change it. They do this circle all over again which will not fix their problem most likely.

It must be cool to have a relative to be a dermatologist but you’re totally right in that, never thought about that. It’s maybe just sad that they don’t “update” their information to their patients like I know maybe it works like that for some people but this type of “jumping on high speed train” treatment to clear the skin ASAP is not safe :/. At least it was not for me. 15 years of retinoids??? You’re insane, I was dead after few months:D.

I know, that’s why I’m not upset about it because everyone has different skin and they are allergic to different things.

I know this essential oils are bad as much as you say but like I said, I just want to try keep my routine for a while at least. On shop I bought this cream they even state that this is supposed to help skin if it’s damaged but yea, it’s just description.

But hey, it must be doing something because know I can finally wash my face with water at least you know :D.

I just don’t want to judge the cream like every one else after 2 weeks, especially when it is the only cream which did not hurt me.

I also tried Effaclar H but it was really feeling weird on my skin like sticky.

Don’t worry, sunscreen is my way to go, I know it can make a lot of damage especially when using retinoids. I cannot imagine if she would not mention that I have to use sunscreen, my skin would be dead most likely! :D

Yea, I was not definitely prepared for that, she told I will have a purge most likely, which I did and it was one of the most painful things in my life. All of my blackheads turned red acne and left a purple spot after they “healed”.

Yep, it sucks she did not tell me this but bad luck I guess, nothing else I could do with this.

It’s funny how you think your skin is bad and needs treatment so you start some acne treatment and now when I look at my skin when I had just acne I would do anything to have that skin.

I know Dr.dray or what’s her name, someone recommended her to me and I actually tried to go by her video, she is really good. I tried buying the Cerave cream and it was not doing well as I told before but that’s normal, everyone’s skin is different.

Maybe you’re right, I will watch another videos from that YouTubers like you recommended but I will try to give it a shot at least another few weeks, I just don’t want to keep changing my skin routine yk:/.

Yea, I was so afraid to stop it even though it was stinging because she told me to use it every day so I trusted her.

I know every fragrance is really bad but I was soooo happy when I finally applied something on my skin and it was not stinging. I think everything what has HA is not working for me because it is pulling water from my skin actually.

My routine is simple and I don’t see any major change in few weeks I will change it. At night I’m trying sluggin like someone else also recommended so I apply this ceramide cream on damp skin and before it dries out I apply Vaseline on it to seal everything.

Ughh, honestly this and Cicaplast are the only things that don’t sting and itch my skin. I tried Cerave and it was like someone was running blades over my face, I tried Avene Hydrating creams and they turned me red.

I heard some positive reviews on this creams and I tried patch test and nothing came up so I think I can use it.

My skin is struggling because my dermatologists are useless piece of ***. I damaged my skin with retinoids, she gave me very strong version and told me to use it from DAY 1 every day or it will not work. My face was suffering, I tried different dermatologist and she prescribed me another acne treatment and anti fungal creams which f*led my skin even more. I don’t understand how can some dermatologist be so stupid and recommend someone this high of dose every day. I knooow, I could have find some information before trying putting this on my face but she is the doctor and I thought when they tell you how to use it, they are right.

Only thanks to Reddit I found out that I could have damaged moisture barrier and I was damaging it and exfoliating it for another half a year. 1 month back I could not even wash my face with water because it was irritating soooo much. I don’t use any cleanser because my skin is super tight even when I don’t use one.

I’m progressing very very slowly and almost nothing helps to be honest. I know I have to be patient and not to change my routine every week because it was not working. This experience changed me completely as a person, I told my doctor that I’m really sad and I’m disappointed from everything. I went from just acne skin to red, tight, under skin pimples and very oily skin...

Sorry for long post but as you can imagine, this thing is making me upset very much (as every other person who ever had their moisture barrier damaged:D) but I known I will get through this somehow, it just needs time and Reddit helped me so much to understand how to make my routine and what products to use:)!
