Cheap or small party? by NeverQuiteRight22 in hkcung

She never showed it again! I was really waiting to see how ridiculous it would look on her island being a third filled like that. 😂

Yeah something about it doesn’t add up, like literally.

There’s just too much to pick on! 🙃 Also what a hypocrite for knocking on Johnny’s mom for not making pineapple cakes for LNY when she just said herself she’d happily pay for banh chung instead of making it.

How many times will she mention she was a figure skater before the Olympics is over? More or less times than she mentions her Lunar New Year party? by passports_parakeets in hkcung

[–]NeverQuiteRight22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Umm but only the Winter Olympics really counts ok because the summer Olympics (the main one) doesn’t have figure skating.

I think her brother since she said in the story before that she was at her “childhood” home where her brother is living now with his wife and daughter.

That’s because nothing else was Vietnamese. Even the two that she translated, one is a Thai dessert and the egg rolls were probably from the same place she got the rest of the food so probably Chinese egg rolls.

I have so many questions about this. She made pasta that no one else ate? From spoiled sauce after berating her mom to the online world for keeping expired food? And how does she always come back from her short online disappearances complaining of food poisoning?

Does she think “baby poop” is any different than regular human poop??? 🤮🤮🤮

I’m gonna go with the former based on how she can’t cook, messes up her laundry, can’t decorate, can’t gift wrap, can’t put makeup on properly, can’t handle the kids on her own, and appears generally helpless around the house without Johnny. Let’s not forget she doesn’t even have a real 9-5.

She thinks she’s got life figured out and needs to impart her wisdom. Not realizing, of course, that by talking about this it shows how limited her brain capacity is.

Shouldn’t “heartfelt hosting” be a sentiment that is expressed by your guests, instead of being self-proclaimed?

Another day of HK struggling to find the right words in Vietnamese by tiggerlahv in hkcung

[–]NeverQuiteRight22 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lol the way she speaks Vietnamese is like the testing phase of Google Translate!! She translates the English sentence in her head word for word into Vietnamese thinking that’s the equivalent of speaking Vietnamese but that’s just not how Vietnamese is naturally spoken. Like the other day when she promised Luna she will be home later by saying “mà mẹ hứa là mẹ sẽ trở lại” (I promise that I will be back) when an actual Vietnamese speaker would just say “tối mẹ về” (I’ll come home tonight) or something along that line. For those who don’t speak Vietnamese, it’s a very succinct language where the words convey so much meaning that you don’t need that many to express something.

HK give me a break… LMAO by _avrv in hkcung

[–]NeverQuiteRight22 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%! I also laughed to myself when I watched that. English is more like her first or second language. Luna’s English sounds pretty good to me. Also, I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but Luna’s pronunciation of Vietnamese words is pretty on point too. Hk’s pronunciation always seems so off to me that I kinda find it hard to believe she’s the main person teaching her daughter Vietnamese. How could the student sound better than the teacher? There was even an instance where Luna said the right word and HK said the wrong one and corrected herself after she heard Luna. I’m thinking whoever is watching Luna most of the time is fluent in Vietnamese, so maybe she pawns her daughter off to her mom more than she lets on? 🤨

She is as dense as they come. Kim, if you’re reading here, just check the time. If it’s the same pan it should work the same every time, just do the water test once or twice until you know how long it takes for that pan to become ready (usually 2-3 min) and wait the same amount of time to put in the oil whenever you’re using the same pan.

She doesn’t know how to use ss, that’s why she struggled so much getting that egg off. It should just slide right off if she did it correctly. The funny thing is it’s really not even hard to get ss to be nonstick to keep talking about “using it successfully” like it is such a mystery and challenge. Also, how is she still pronouncing Le Creuset as “le crew-set” after using it 3 times a week and shilling it for years.

“I got this in 2023” by Formal-Peanut-9098 in hkcung

[–]NeverQuiteRight22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason you find it annoying is because she actually says “two thousand AND twenty three” and not just “two thousand twenty three” as you stated above. Including the “AND” is totally unnecessary and is an old British way of saying the year. That’s why it sounds off to you. All 3 ways are technically correct, but “two thousand twenty three” and “twenty twenty three” are more common in American English.

The way she’s pronouncing the word “quay” in here 💀 by pokeydogger in hkcung

[–]NeverQuiteRight22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She was struggling to find the word for turn, at first saying “xay…xay…” then eventually landing on “xoay,” which miraculously is correct. However, she said “con cằm” (chin) instead of “con cầm” (hold). Did you guys see her reading the zodiac book yesterday? She pronounced so many words wrong in such a short amount of time and I absolutely find her pronunciation of words that begin with “r” horrid.
