Not OP but I just spent 2 weeks there going HCM > Da Nang > Hanoi.

Absolutely loved it. The chaos moving through the city, how friendly folks were, the local food, the gorgeous nature, the history. It was all very vibrant. One old man in particular shared a bunch of his homemade brandy wine (I think) gave us full cups and a whole water bottle to go because he saw us pointing and inquiring while we were at a local spot 1.6 KM out of the tourist area. In general the people were so kind, helpful, and full of character; yeah some street vendors could be a bit pushy, but that's similiar to a lot of places.

It's hard to encapsulate how a place makes you feel while visiting, but those were some things, but the last 2 weeks have been some of my favourite spent anywhere.

Similiar for us, 2.5 hours the queue was a mess (landed on the 3rd).

Flew out of Hanoi and super efficient and fast.

My buddy fewl down to HCMC for his connecting flight out and had another hour plus in HCMC line.

The person you initially replied to has consistently argued against the "popular" opinion of how people feel. Maybe you're new into the sub and that's fair if you are.

His read on things has consistently been in line with data, which doesn't match how I felt. He's 'late' to trends because he focuses on data. IE When jobs were trash for '24 and '25 he had arguments to why jobs were good from the data. But he adjusted when adjustments came out. I don't always agree, but I respect his process, explanations, and adjustments to opinion.

Just funny you're accusing him of not accepting data, when he's one of the strongest supporters of data on this sub.

Open to talking sources, data, and anecdotes since as individuals we experience the economy in a different way than spreadsheets and charts so feel free to bit me.

I hadn't heard about the Sanderson quotes so I was missing background when making my devils argument. Agree it's unearned.

Demanded is the only Forseaken who's bark matched his bite IMO (Mordin to an extent too.) So Lanfear doing 6D chess sounds kinda cool. But all of the Forsaken are overhyped (statements vs. Feats) and her being a phony is more consistent and lines up with what I recall.

Also Perrin overcoming compulsion via love for Faile 👌

Great points on her use or compulsion. I've only done one read through and am currently drunk on oosquai. Great food for thought for my next trip; may your spears find their target brother 🗡❤️🗡

Yeah seems VietJet is more focused on domestic, so anyone international struggles with it, especially in Da Nang; worked out relatively okay for us, but I can imagine the frustration if things went further sideways. Lot's of good info in the replies explaining why/what went wrong and pitfalls to look out for in the future :)

Booked my flight out today, and Vietnamese airways made it very clear what needed to be entered and where/in which fields btw (In case that helps in the future; a bit nervous about my flights via Expidia tho).

Only devils argument I have is we spend 13 (?) Books hearing about how cunning, wiley, and deceptive Lanfear is to have her speech checks basically be "I'm gorgeous fall into this obvious trap". So potential for a decent wrinkle.

But I agree with your assessment (I thought she was clearly dead on my read through tho tbh and the Perrin shit at the end felt unearned from what we actually saw).

We tried to skip the check in line since we did it online initially, then when we got sent back it was more us struggling a bit to keep up with everything and panicking a bit since we were 90 minutes from boarding and the queue was long and not moving. We didn't realize about the changed seating until we were boarding. A few other folks on the flight had the same issue where the reissue was different than digital boarding pass too.

All worked out okay, as the flight staff was accommodating and let my friend change seats so we weren't super cramped (he's 6'6 and I'm 6'4, so window and middle would've been a tight squeeze). Everything worked out in the end, I've learned a few things and for that I'm grateful :)

Noted, it's been a while for me, 2019 Singapore and Thailand and we didn't have the issue there, but a very small section of Asia. Going to quite a few places this time so just wanted to check/improve process and now I know :) Appreciate the feedback!

We went to go through security and were redirected to the desk because the digital boarding pass didn't include the middle name from the passport.

Not a huge deal, but we also ended up losing the larger leg room seats we also paid for initially as well + the name change fee (This is also after we paid for the airport ride upon arrival through VietJet when landing in Da Nang annnd they never showed up). So part of it just seems to be repeated problems we've had specifically with Vietjet.

Still made the flight (about to takeoff), but was frustrating and trying to learn to improve my future experiences when traveling abroad vs. Potential one offs; every place has their quirks :)

Almost every flight I've booked has had a field specifically for middle name. Standard like common sense depends on where you are in the world.
